Dorkins
It's nice that somebody is brave enough to use the R word. In my new job we just handed out the annual payrise notifications, it averages out to 2.5% across the board. With inflation running at 7-8% that's a 5% drop in real pay in a single year before you even factor in the NI hike or the rising cost of housing. If wages falling in value by 5-10% in a single year isn't a recession then we might need to reconsider how that term is defined.

It's an extremely unknown unknown, an epochal economic shift. Govts simply aren't prepared for it. And we're not even sure what it is fully. Lucky Larry
What we need are more jingoistic soundbites like 40 new hospitals, 27000 new nurses , fastest growing recovery in the G7, Brexit opportunities and maybe a weekly round of applause while reminding everyone it was tougher during the blitz . The UK is so fukked Edited March 9, 2022 by Lucky Larry
