Corruption
He will sacrifice a load of young British working class kids so he can look like a statesman is what he means. They really must be desperate for a war to win next years election after seeing the house price bubble his friends have created isnt going to get them elected. Unfortunately Blair made these 2 vote winners, vote losers.

TheCountOfNowhere
I imagine this is just bluster and they wont do anything Hopefully anyway Blimey....Thatcher won an election based on starting a war no one cared about. Blair went to war with Iraq and still won the election. It's straight out the "how to win an election" handbook.

Unfortunately Blair made these 2 vote winners, vote losers. When haven't neocon monsters like Hague and Blair been desperate for a war? Happily the general public appears to have seen that trick once too often to fall for it again.
Sour Mash
I imagine this is just bluster and they wont do anything Hopefully anyway I dunno - these situations don't just happen. There was clearly an agenda behind the armed revolt that overthrew the elected Ukrainian regime back in February that destabilised the country and precipitated the escalating tensions ... just look at the anti-Russian propaganda that was building in the mainstream media prior to that. No coincidence that the violent uprising took place smack dab in the middle of the Sochi Winter Olympics either when Russia might find its hands somewhat tied. There has also been unrelenting pressure since then - clearly someone who pulls the strings of our politicians is spoiling for a fight. A good 'hot war' is a great way to distract the population from its woes, generate profits for the appropriate 'defence' industries and an excuse to impose ever more control on the population and mass media. tio
The Obama Game - Is Putin Being Lured Into a Trap? by MIKE WHITNEY http://www.counterpunch.org/2014/04/15/is-putin-being-lured-into-a-trap/ The overriding goal of US policy in Ukraine is to stop the further economic integration of Asia and Europe. That’s what the fracas is really all about. The United States wants to control the flow of energy from East to West, it wants to establish a de facto tollbooth between the continents, it wants to ensure that those deals are transacted in US dollars and recycled into US Treasuries, and it wants to situate itself between the two most prosperous markets of the next century. Anyone who has even the sketchiest knowledge of US foreign policy– particularly as it relates to Washington’s “pivot to Asia”– knows this is so. The US is determined to play a dominant role in Eurasia in the years ahead. Wreaking havoc in Ukraine is a central part of that plan. douglasc
I don't think that Putin is likely to be influenced by any of the West's "forward guidance". We won't do anything and he knows it.
Lord D'arcy Pew
I think we should all back a bit of Affirmative action or positive discrimination in the next war. Let's send all the women out to fight, just until the male/female combat body count has been politically corrected. The men can look after the babies, and the women can look out for the bullets. This would be very positive for all the males, and very on message with a core demographic.

The Masked Tulip
Guess we shouldn't have run the defence budget down to the bone after all? Or chopped up those Nimrods or done the other 101 stupid things that they have done since 2010. Let us hope that this calls Putin's bluff - some hope.
