Not a fan of parolympic games jokes then?

Shouldn't support the illegal invasion of countries by genocidal dictators.

Imagine getting offended by a Jimmy Carr joke but thinking Putin is a cuddly teddy.

Need your head checking bro

I think you might have upset the resident muppet.

Best just add him to ignore as let's be honest you aren't exactly missing any blistering insight or analysis that translates to the real world.

All you are doing is using your bandwidth and indulging the nonsense. He'll no doubt still chuck tantrums but will be the only one knowing he's soiled himself again

One interesting thing that keeps being repeated by folks like Zug and the crazies on the internet is the lie that the US & Europe were the main backers of Saddam in the Iran-Iraq war.

In fact it was the Soviet Union. They gave more military aid because China was increasing its influence in Iran ( China also sold to Iraq but mainly to claim 'neutrality'). It was a replay of the Chinese invasion of Vietnam and the Soviet-Afghan war where China heavily supplied the Mujahadeen ( another Zug forgets when he goes on about ISIS / Al-Qaeda )

Because of the dumbing down of history it is thrown out when the dim brigade begin any discussion of 'the past'. The Yanks and West used Saddam but he was far from their boy and that's why he had T-72s & the latest hardware from Russia in the Gulf War - and why the Russians put out the idea of 'export tanks' to explain how they fared so badly.

It is this same style that is used to claim Zelensky is a puppet of the West or that Assad didn't use chemical weapons in Aleppo or that Skripal was poisoned by MI5.

Basically folks believing dumbed down narratives to complex issues and being funnelled into - look how evil the West is it must be them being evil and orchestrating everything.

Trump the peacekeeper ...

Trump has 'secret plan' to end the Ukraine-Russia war by getting Kyiv to give up land to Putin

Former President Donald Trump has reportedly revealed he has a plan to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine in just one day if he is re-elected in November by convincing Kyiv to give up land.

Sources told The Washington Post that Trump's proposal includes urging Ukraine to give up Crimea and the Donbas border region to Russia in order to end the war.

The former president believes people in Ukraine would be accepting of that deal and he thinks both Russia and Ukraine 'want to save face, they want a way out,' according to Trump insiders.

This will be a win - win settle on a plan of action for Trump and Putin.

How strangely easy it is for you people to ignore Ukraines sovereignty...

Could that be the reason why you ended up at war in the first place ?

Again you are attempting to reason with people who don't want reason and trying facts when facts don't matter to them anymore.

Its like when NATO nation X runs a report on how long it could sustain a war against Russia with only its own conventional forces and comes up with figue of Y months that figure is somehow proof NATO would lose to Russia or that nation is weak and should tow Russia's line.

No its proof NATO works because that nation would in fact trigger Art 5 and per the request NATO members would provide forces to aid them. For the slow of thinking note NATO membersnot NATO as NATO does not hire nor have an army of its own same as the UN and almost every military alliance in existance..

Just like the averageTwitterati and slow of thinking person shouting China can donate munitions to Russia - no they often use subtly different and incompatible munitions and systems - hence the N Korea proxy route.

Example - Russia uses 5.45mm round, China 5.8mm bullet in service rifles because they never joined Warsaw Pact and thoughheavily influenced by Russian armaments design diverged in 80s after fallings out in prev decades.

Tbh as I've mentioned before, I tend to see the misdirection as a massive alarm bell as to what Russia is up to.

Had some fun looking at the "Merkel Started the War" rabbit hole - some interesting history around that.

One nugget is the "Surkov Leaks", I'm a bit wary of that kind of stuff not least because it tends to be the modus operandi our resident Putinists ! But its a good debating agenda for understanding the context of Minsk with wrt Russias intent   - essentially engaged in a hybrid war to conquer Ukraine :

Quote

  • An email sent to Surkov and others on 14 June 2014 by Denis Pushilin, the former Chairman of the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic, contains a document listing casualties that occurred from 26 May to 6 June 2014.[3] The list of casualties includes a row for an unnamed soldier listed as "VDV Pskovsky" ("ВДВ Псковский"), a designation for a deployment of Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) from the city of Pskov.[1
  • An email sent to Surkov from a Russian government account on 18 June 2014 detailed the practicalities of Russia absorbing a portion of Ukraine. An email attachment included a briefing paper titled "On the Risks of an Economic Blockade of the LNR and DNR".
  • One of the emails to Surkov from Konstantin Malofeev[20] contained a list of recommended candidates for positions in the separatist government prior to their appointments.[7]
  • One of the documents included in the leak was a 22-page outline of "a plan to support nationalist and separatist politicians and to encourage early parliamentary elections in Ukraine, all with the aim of undermining the government in [Kyiv]."[5]

Apparently a few dams have now burst, it's led to a bit of a cascade effect which has caused massive massive flooding issues.

The local population have turned up at regional offices that weren't flooded to protest at their taxes not being used to upkeep the dams, at first the police tried to disperse the "illegal protests" but more and more people kept on coming, as up to a million people are now homeless.

It's clear Russia has drained the bank and is on fumes, Wars aren't cheap to fund, but there are credible sources that say up to 30% or Russias refineries are unable to operate already, and they cannot get the spares easily due to sanctions.

Ukriane is getting more and more sophisticated every day with long range drone attacks and they can hit more refineries.

It's not looking rosy for Russia, and this is ukraine currently without support from the US

International Atomic Energy Agency: Drone strikes hit the site of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant

Minor superficial scorching to the top of the reactor dome roof.  No leaks.

Sure the Ukrainian power station has been captured in a military operation. Yet, it amazes me why the IAEA are still not allowed to state that it is Ukraine droning, shelling and launching armed assaults on the Nuclear power stations and it's infrastructure. How many ever believed the reports in the UK media, that it was the Russian's shelling their own troop positions, as a threat that they would deliberately create a nuclear incident. Then that morphed into using the station as a shield from which to launch attacks... Clearly those reports were always bull$hit but I remember the weak minded on here arguing that such reports on BBC/Sky/Telegraph/Time/DailyMail were the absolute truth. Just one of many examples.

So then apparently Russia is using banned chemical weapons.

Maybe its a bit "ah well, add it to the list of crimes",   still pretty disgusting all the same.

Russia is using chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops to create panic before it attacks: report

  • Russia is using chemical weapons against Ukrainian forces, The Telegraph has reported.

  • The report says Russia is using the weapons to create panic before launching attacks.

  • Russia is a signatory of the convention banning chemical weapons.

The real question is what will Russia do when it come up against a more of less equal enemy?  Who might that be?  Japan, China, the USA or the EU?  Why would these places have a beef with Russia?  EU already has one which is Ukraine, China and Japan are nursing old wounds regarding Manchuria and the lost Islands.  I said it from the start, Russia should have pulled its troops back home and prepared from the lessons learned in the early stages of the illegal invasion, but instead they doubled down.  Now, others are sitting back watching Russia fall apart.  Reality is after Russia implodes China and Japan can simply walk into its old territories and just say it’s a peacekeeping mission, humanitarian aid etc.  Very likely that the USA will do the same in eastern Russia.  Doesn’t need to be an invasion now, simply sending peacekeepers is enough.  Turkey is poised to become the power broker in places like Georgia, they have demonstrated they are generally level headed, a viable partner for the US to manage an area that no one else wants to manage.  Finland will be wanting its old territory back too, again its simply a matter of walking across the border at the right time.  What remains of Russia will be a series of independent states, probably not somewhere anyone would want to be, same strongman politics but on a micro scale.  Regarding the “Stan” countries, I would speculate there will be some Islamic states that will expand into Russia.

Right now the US and EU are ramping up artillery production, meanwhile Ukraine are managing a controlled retreat, eating up Russian soldiers and equipment.  Surprising everyone again with these drone strikes and now modified aircraft.  Meanwhile the ordinary Ukrainian squaddies are holding the line.  What we are yet to see is a tipping point where Russia has reached the bottom or the barrel of Cold War stockpiles.  Ukraine says the F16s are no longer even relevant, this tells us that they plan to rely on drones but need shells.  What will be interesting is whether they can produce enough drones to actually make the shells more or less a side story.

Interesting thoughts.

It is very difficult to predict exactly what will happen but there will, at some point, be external global forces that will come into play. I think Russia will see more pressures internally over the shorter term.

The Ukrainian conflict is only the very beginning of the end for Russia as we know it.

How will the death throes of the Putin regime affect the rest of the word and us? Will the UK get involved even in a small way?

Am I overestimating or possibly underestimating the strength of Putins Russia? It is still dangerous but how dangerous.

At the moment we are our own worst enemy. But Russias dangerousness is increasing as its becoming battle hardened through fighting Ukraine and getting used to blitzing its way through atrocity after atrocity. Perhaps more seriously the entire state is being changed into a war machine whipped by fantasy propaganda. Very difficult to see that stopping after this war...

Knowing who is sending a drone is not easy at the best of times. Do you have a link on this? Preferably not RT
