It’s a good time to be alive. The Tories are single-handedly destroying themselves every day with their corruption and lies.

Go on any platform and all you see is anger and hate directed toward them. There’s no support. The Tories have even went viral on TikTok for their sleaze, inspiring a thousands of memes and vines.

A generation of young people are seeing them for that they are. It’s brilliant.

And yet they won a recent by-election with an (admittedly reduced) majority of 4000. I hate them, but I wouldn't translate any of the current hate into votes for other parties, unfortunately. Also, social media is mainly used by a younger age range, who the stats show tend not to vote.

A Spitting Image sketch on a niche, UK subscription only channel likely doesn't reach all that many.

Its Ant & Dec taking the mickey that cut through or are you talking about something completely different? Its zombie watched by millions who otherwise are tuned off to news except soundbites. There are a couple of people at work in their 40s who can name all the Kardashians and the goings on of this show but don't know who the Health Sec is. It reached them.

If you want a perfect example of sleaze look at the Aquind data cable planning permission in Portsmouth.

Locals don't want it ( complete cross-party), several times highlighted security flaws + risk ( Mordaunt was effectively booted over raising this and Security Service red flags) but its happening because Johnson pushing it through... his Russian drinking buddy / Tory donor is the money behind said project... with KGB links... nothing to see

Apologies. I got this mixed up with another topic I was viewing. Yes, the Ant and Dec one likely reached millions.

Because they are tunnel visioned and a plummy accent must be honest salt of the earth true Brit... bit like Farage and co are 'Man of the people' outsiders despite being insiders / established order for decades and Trump has the interests of ordinary folks while giving tax cuts to millionnaires.

PM Boris Johnson took part in No 10 Christmas quiz last year

Boris Johnson took part in a Christmas quiz sitting between two colleagues in No 10 last year - while indoor household mixing was banned in London.

The Sunday Mirror has published a picture of Mr Johnson at the event, which it said was on 15 December.

I think this one is deliberately being slow dripped so they self-incriminate with yet more lies.

Agree...this was my first thought this morning when I heard this. This is a "place holder" to keep the story in the news. There is a vote on plan B on Tuesday and PMQ's on Weds (if they havent gone on their Xmas Hols by then), so expect more damming evidence tomorrow night.

Why would you sit on this sort of stuff for a year before releasing it ?

So that the mudslinging has maximum effect. Ditto all the other stuff that will come out at the same time to no doubt try and force the issue.

Personally I am less interested in all this petty nonsense and more interested in how the country is being run.

I can see a time in the future where outside the HOC politicians are going to have to lock themselves up somewhere to avoid them doing anything that can be used against them.

Less focus on petty carp like gold wallpaper and people getting together for a coffee. More focus on real issues.

Al Capone got locked up for tax evasion, not murder, gun running and illicit alcohol. Any ammunition in the war against the current pscyho's running the country is good ammunition

True.  Thatcher wasn't defeated by Portillo, Heseltine, or even the Poll Tax rioters - it was the savaging by Geoffrey Howe that voiced the discontent of her Backbenchers.

BoJo has a large number of Red Wall Tories now looking over their shoulders - it only takes a half competent Labour to trigger re-election nerves and the whispers of 'new blood' for the Leadership.  Thursdays by-election will be a reckoning.

Its been effectively pointed out he hasn't got anyone who'll defend him and all those who vote with him on anything now do so only if it is good for them, not because of party say so.

Brady & 1922 are in rebellious mood and it all looks like the day May voted against her own bill.

No one voted BoJo to support the man, we agree there, he was simply the most popular candidate to suck votes away from UKIP and Labour discontents - something, to be fair, he did spectacularly with crushing the red wall and 'GetTiNg Br*xIt DoNE'.

1922 are no longer cowed by him (and there is an argument to say if they ever were) and are acting as a lightning rod to capture fear - similarly after Howe and Thatcher.  The result was Thatcher had to deal with big stalking horses and could no longer corral her MPs.  BoJo doesn't have that threat...yet.

On a side note, for all the Labour bashers screaming about the dangers of momentum...they seem awfully quiet with the pain that 1922 can inflict.  It isn't a simple group of MPs, it is the repository of the Tory Fringe and all their nutcases just looking to see when they can push their agenda onto Government.
