This is supposedly where JP Morgan keeps their gold. The very same gold that has been dwindling down at astonishing rates lately. JP Morgan warehouse 100 feet below CMP 1 on Wall Street.

[...]

With JPM’s gold inventory plunging 66% Friday to an all-time low of 46,000 ounces, and with reportedly over 502,000 ounces still standing against JPM for the JUNE gold contract, is the long anticipated force-majeure event in progress?

Black swan event? JP Morgan trying to cover up that they are bust by claiming on insurance? :ph34r:

What happens to tungsten in a fire?

No worries it has a melting point of 3,422 °C, the highest of all metals

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tungsten

Gold by comparison is a mere 1,064 °C

You don't understand what's the plan here.

The gold won't burn - if it gets hot enough it will just melt into a puddle. The tungsten won't even do that, it will just sink to the bottom of the gold puddle and remain hidden for a little while longer. Or it might float on top which would be a little more troublesome. I haven't looked at the tiny differences in density between liquid gold and hot tungsten but I think sinking is the favourite.

But something has to burn to create a fire. It must be all the paperwork, indicating whose gold it is. All the identifying stamps will have melted away as well. All the Nazi gold will be anonymous. All of Mr Investor's gold will be part of the same puddle, like the great link in Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

When it all cools down, how on earth will they decide how to split 5 fishes and 2 loaves between all those people who want their shiny metal back?

A few points (somewhat unrelated to each other - so there is no narrative) - :

The fire was streets away from JPM's vault;

JPM has no gold left anyway;

Gold doesn't burn, but paper gold does;

A fire in a gold vault would be an excellent way of converting allocated gold into unallocated gold. And then to deliver paper when people want their allocated gold back.

I saw a film on TV the other day, Die Hard 4 or something, that was about blagging all the gold from the basement of Goldman Sucks.

Looks like someone is trying something similar. Or maybe the German government asked for its gold back to check it hasn't turned into tungsten.

Zerohedge article about it:

They seem to say it's not JP Morgan's building.

As the Native Amarican Indians nearly said...

" White man speak with Fork'd Tungsten'

:P
