This has been trailed for weeks (arguably months) by Wings over Scotland and other sites.

Perhaps the questions which should be being asked are?

why has this been delayed so long

why did they wait until Sturgeon left office and the SNP leadership election was over

why has it been done just before Easter when the Scottish parliament is not in session and

if this had happened weeks ago would Kate Forbes now be first minister?

Given what happened with the Alba leader/former Scottish first minister - there is also the question as to how independent has the Scottish legal system been under the previous regime

Hope none of that - as its not about the specific allegations - is problematic for this site.

Perhaps now is a better time to bury bad news..

Trust me, this hasn’t been timed to minimise it’s publicity, because this is cataclysmic and is the biggest bombshell in the history of devolved Scottish politics.

This is about so much more than money is well, it’s linked to the attempted destruction of Alex Salmond which is why many people quit the party, not just that pair.

Upon clearing his name, Salmond suggested there would be a reckoning.

What a gift for Labour

Yes...they needed to start making gains in Scotland to have any hope of forming a Government. Thats the real story here IMPO. I dont think that the SNP really wanted to win a referendum, they just wanted to be permanently protesting. All the time they had the socialist vote, Labour were never going to win a GE.

Tory head office must be in meltdown right now and if not, they should be. Expect more extreme policies from the right over the next year....or perhaps, heaven forbid, they start to act like conservatives again!

Dont joke!

Mike

Kate Forbes is old school SNP - highlands and islands, religious and conservative but backed public spending.

I wonder if more comes out about the leadership election process whether she may still get her chance. I think though she had a lucky escape this time round.

The Police are now digging up her garden looking for CASH!

They must have a pretty strong tip off to go in like that.

If they buried cash, that must be a pretty strong vote of confidence in £ sterling, or maybe they were too dumb to realise that if you bury cash it deprecates in purchasing power, or maybe they haven't buried anything.

I know don't judge a book by its cover, but they do seem to be quite a strange couple.

Timed because head of Scottish police also recently announced he was leaving. This should have been investigated a long time ago. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are also brought into the situation at some point. Lots of suggestions he’d been bought by the SNP leadership before. Absolute disgrace the whole leadership group. SNP are done now and independence argument is gone.
