Drat
On 02/06/2022 at 09:10, NoHPCinTheUK said: Of course. But the Russian have deployed a front of several hundreds miles. The Ukrainians cannot simply cover the whole line.  In the South the Russians could at any moment try to seize Melitopol, from there the way to Dnipro is open through  Zaporizzja. In the East, there’s a 15 mile escape route for the Ukrainians troops there deployed. Around 60% of the entire Ukrainian army is fighting there and the Russians are closing the gap from north and south. There are also miles unguarded further north, just south of Charkiv.  The problem with sending weapons is that you need to train people. Soldiers are all deployed on the front, if you train them they cannot fight.  As I said, and I am not a troll, the situation is extremely complicated for the defenders from what I see on the ground. Russia is succeeding in the East because they flatten enemy areas from afar using artillery, then send troops in to mop up. IF Ukraine can outrange them and destroy the Russian artillery then it changes the balance. Russia has truck loads of artillery, so all depends if Ukraine can get enough to outgun them. This war is not decided one way or another yet.

rollover
Ukraine lifts interest rate to highest in Europe Ukraine's central bank has more than doubled its interest rate to 25%. The move is intended to slow soaring inflation and prevent a further collapse of its currency. The World Bank predicts that Ukraine's economy could shrink by as much as 45% this year. The rate of inflation - or the cost of living - has risen to 17% in Ukraine and is on track to hit 20% this year. The National Bank of Ukraine said the benchmark interest rate increase - from 10% to 25% - would help protect citizens' savings from being eaten by soaring inflation.
