Some things are ‘nice to have’: TV subscriptions, restaurant meals, new clothes. Other things are ‘need to have’: food, water, heating. And access to reliable, trustworthy information.

Not one mention of the what must be the biggest expense everyone faces every month. Mortgage/rent. Oh no, high house prices = good đŸ¤¨

Thanks I was surprised about architecture.  Saying that I still think there should be a website showing details for course and university. I would be surprised if all unis that offer x have the same salaries.

(The data should come from student loan repayments none of this self reported stuff).

Rewards to architecture (and law, I think) are like those for athletes, acting, fine artists, musicians, and drug dealers. A few people make an absolute mint, but most scarcely get by. In contrast to education/medicine/accounting/IT where there are fewer (but more than zero) at the top end but at the lower end, you are less likely to end up skint.

Here's the latest wheeze in post-ism social sciences - masturbation as a qualitative research method. Yes indeed. A little bit of methodological academia has died:

The Guardian: University investigates PhD student’s paper on masturbating to comics of ‘young boys’.

Quantify the govt funding? A phd - £20k per year? Cheaper than a shelf stacker

60K over 3 years which the taxpayer will never get back from these oxygen thieves. They should be gainfully employed elsewhere in the productive economy.

Ahhh but ... which 13yo didnt fancy Lynne?

http://georgeandlynne.com/

What that, he was pulling off over Jap boys ... o h dear.

Need a new category - physics, stamp collecting, just taking the p1ss - or semen in this case.

mrs spy has had this years batch of trainee teachers at her school.

2 years post 16, at least 3 HE, then 1 year TT - 6 years.

And still one of the TT said that half the class struggled with the difference between 'there' and 'their'

Less HE, more blundering on, without progressing much beyond 14.

Im not even sure thats the case.

In her chatting, a large number of TT dont have a maths c+ pass (or whatever the number is now)

Its nuts.

People are progressing 16->18, 18->22, without really getting the grades at 16.

The appetite of the HE sector is so great that theyll just pick up kids who should have left school at 16, or at least retook exams.

Maybe having the confidence that a pass give you is more important than actually understanding STEM
