thecrashingisles
If Labour had been the biggest party in parliament after the 2010 election, do you really think Gordon Brown would have left Downing Street?
TheCountOfNowhere
Revolution soon? Well, not by me personally, but I'd imagine there are a lot of very poor very angry people floating about right now. People are being denied democracy. Of course, the Scottish referendum was above board and all those billions of pounds used to prop up house prices 2 years before the general election was just the done thing. It's good to have good old British democracy and not that foreign rubbish.

TheCountOfNowhere
There's not much being reported by the MSM so I guess there's nothing to see here. Move along please.
renting til I die
If Labour had been the biggest party in parliament after the 2010 election, do you really think Gordon Brown would have left Downing Street? Good point. Constitutionally this isn't a problem. Will be interesting to see how this minority government copes. With 104 seats out of 230, it isn't the end of the world. spyguy
At one poing I didnt think he was going regardless of the result !!!! I'd like to see the minutes of what happened released. I would guess Nick LebDem must have a good account of what happened. My guess is that the loon had to be levered out.
dances with sheeple
Polish elections today, some Polish people I was talking to saying that they are sick of the Merkel dictatorship, and that the media here won`t report anything close to the present discontent with Euro-land that exists on the ground. billybong
So is it martial law/military law now - with minority government - because there must be some "democratic" rules to do with all that.

dances with sheeple
better question, has our head of state? I think Simon Cowell pays for his own flights and stuff, so it probably doesn`t matter too much?
long time lurking
Yup it`s true happened a few days ago the BBC is on the case there will be an extensive 2 minute piece on Teletext tomorrow http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11949701/AEP-Eurozone-crosses-Rubicon-as-Portugals-anti-euro-Left-banned-from-power.html
billybong
It's the sort of thing that goes on when the politicians supposed to be responsible for a nation are in hock to a non-national entity. It also happens when politicians are entiriely self serving as especially demonstrated during and after NuLabour's days (not that there wasn't ample evidence of all that before that time as well). blobloblob
Good point. Constitutionally this isn't a problem. Will be interesting to see how this minority government copes. With 104 seats out of 230, it isn't the end of the world. They won't be able to get any new legislation through and will lose a vote of confidence as soon as there is one, although I think there is a rule that says they can't have one for a year or so. Apparently the president thinks a lame duck minority government is more stable than the combined opposition with their overall majority. reddog
I know that square, its massive. Bit different to some protests we have had recently where a huge crowd has been claimed by the organiser's, but in the pictures only 30 people can be seen in any one shot. oracle
So is it martial law/military law now - with minority government - because there must be some "democratic" rules to do with all that. post democratic age, as mandelsohn put it. the leaders are put there to lead, don'tcha know. not to do as they are bloody well told. That, in essence is what is wrong with the EU. we have a new "priesthood" that think they know better than everybody else. ..and there is frankly little point in verbally protesting to them, because they are "elite" after all, and you, are just a serf, who should know your place. so it looks like bastille day beckons. How many times must europe learn this lesson before they finally "get it?" my guess will be when ISIS actaully makes good on their promise to torch the vatican....at about the same time russia nukes tha kabaa. time for omnipotent rulers is truly at an end.
