onlyme2
Think that big fat gypsy silver coin is sort of sending a message about currencies and who has physcal assets and who has a boatload of paper derivatives. The Chinese have been buying physical resources of all kinds, stepping up the pace as western banks and central banks colluded in price fixing downwards. Caius
Have you seen the myriad coins commemorating Brit Royalty who've never done a day's work in their lives. There's a few for Churchill too.
billybong
Does it have a face value otherwise it's more of a medal rather than a coin? Although theoretically it could still be used like a coin. Edited April 24, 2014 by billybong
The Masked Tulip
Is it kicking off again now? The troops Ukraine has sent in not only look the part - nice black uniforms, latest weapons and 'proper' armoured personnel carriers - but from the TV footage they are acting the part also. Given this is rapidly turning into a proxy war between the US and Moscow it is probably all US issued kit being led by US special forces. Both sides still claiming the moral high ground without either actually asking the locals what they want. I feel sorry for the East Ukrainians.. they are about to find themselves in a conflict zone and neither side cares what they think/want for themselves. The Masked Tulip
Stock markets seem oblivious to all of this. Pro-Russian people have been killed. Putin's 'bluff' is being called? Not good for anyone in that part of the world.

F-sake
Being away for a few days. It seems the situation in the Eastern Ukraine escalating. Stock markets seem oblivious to all of this. Pro-Russian people have been killed. Putin's 'bluff' is being called? Not good for anyone in that part of the world. That footage's been taken today just off the Ukrainian border. dances with sheeple
I meant that BBC focusing in on this as quite a serious and developing situation. Saying things like some roadblocks may have been "re-taken" and pro-Russians saying the government will vacate parliament before they vacate buildings they have taken. Putin seems to be in the mood to do something stupid?

Steppenpig
Putin seems to be in the mood to do something stupid? As I mentioned before, I can't see any face-saving get-out scenarios for either side, which means only the stupid options remain.

Putin seems to be in the mood to do something stupid? no, Putin is reponding to events...the whole thing is stupid...you know, we were buying Russian gas that was sold and paid...no, thats not good enough for the US, and they were pissed at the Russians for Syria, now they want revenge. I really dont understand the mentality of these World leaders...they seem to be a good deal made up of underacheiving idiots that somehow think that bullying and killing is making them look tough. to hell with them.
