Mp Urges Papers Not To Print Topless Photos Of Her

Recommended Posts

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-24573375

Gloria de Piero, the shadow minister for women and equalities, has accused a news agency of trying to obtain topless pictures of her taken when she was 15.

Surely these pictures are illegal anyway to publish as she claims she was 15 when they where taken? Offering to pay thousands for essentially child porn would surely lead to any editor being arrested?

Unless of course she wasn't 15 but older?

Absolutely. I think it's 18 these days. Basically if you still have a copy of the Sun from the early 80s with Sam Fox in it, that's child porn.

What`s wrong with showing her tits and taking part in serious debate at the same time.?

It would possible get more people watching the debates...

However for sake of equality...

Would you want to see him topless?

Just this morning I was wondering what it's going to be like when we start to get parliamentary candidates with a full social media history behind them.

I remember seeing an iffy video on a soft porn type site where the two half naked ladies, when they were asked what they did in their "normal" lives, said they were training to be teachers. I hope that hasn't backfired on them since. Their only hope is that it has disappeared into the porn mountain.

Other MPs have appeared naked in films, on stage and on the telly in their acting careers.

From the pictures posted by Paul Oakes, it's pretty clear that (a) she continued working as a glamour model well into adulthood, and (B) she did so voluntarily, without coercion. I would therefore argue that she has no right to supress the publication of the 15 year-old photos, assuming that they were taken and published legally at the time. There is a legitimate public interest in knowledge of her previous career being in the public domain, especially given her current role (shadow minister for women). The press should not let her airbrush her past, Orwell-style.

I'm not too worried about that then, it's the photos that are 15 years old! I thought we were talking about photos of a 15 year old girl! I don't work for the BBC  so I appreciate the slightly more mature lady. er, over nineteen! I think if she got her tits out again, I might vote for her!

Ah, the ever-expanding definition of a "child". Another thread recently cited an article saying anybody under 25 was a child.

It makes stats meaningless, there was a story on the radio last week about the number of "children" locked up in police cells overnight and what a scandal it was. Only later in the story did it mention that it referred to under-18s, but it was spun like 12 yos were being locked up (agreed that this is bad) when in reality it's 17yos (which is fine).

Frank, there are some 15 year olds I would lend my car to (if it were legal), and people of over 40, that I won't let cross the road on their own, and shouldn't have a credit card.

The word "child" makes me think of the little people you find at shopping malls, who are lost, and then you take them to the store security, not some tattooed 16 year old thug, with more facial hair than me.

And what about the boys?

Too male to admit they are lost, I guess. ;)
