Riedquat
Yes the comparison to violence etc on tv is a good one. Except that violence isn't good but there's nothing wrong with having sex, it's one of the great pleasures of life. If seeing it on the TV or the internet gives people pleasure then great. What's wrong with that? Before this discussion goes any further anyone bound by arbitrary puritanical nonsense should be thrown out, they don't have a sensible opinion on the subject. Bloo Loo
snip Yet I bet most people would think a paedophile is someone who is sexually attracted to prepubescent children. the attraction is not an offence, nor does it upset people UNLESS the person carries it out or even mentions it. A girl under 16 cant give consent to sex, but she can continue to be a drain on her parents for Student loans up to about 25. And yes, the term Abuse is used to describe all sex offences these days....thats because it makes a great headline and is undefined.
Bloo Loo
Similar to the arguments used about homosexuality. "If you 'promote' then everyone will be at it!" It says more about the people using the argument than it does about anyone else. There was no murder before the invention of the printing press. What we do have now, is statistics. The US has some of the most puritanical TV in the West.

Saving For a Space Ship
Perhaps the freely available porn has made sexually themed advertising less effective on everyone, so the Gov's corporate masters have told them to control it ? Bill Hicks as relevant as ever Pron & advertising http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcefX9TPlkY Sexual acts are somewhat of a common occurance.... bendy
There’s not a great deal of input into this thread from the resident HPC females is there Anyway, I read something good on this elsewhere in that there could be a good business opportunity going forward selling X gig of filth directly on a hard drive. Reminds me of ‘That Peter Kay Thing’ with the ice cream man Mr Frosty Top and his sideline business of a freezer full of smutty VHS’s. A terabyte of S&M with your 99 sir? That’ll be £100.99. I’m off to buy a transit van!

The Eagle
I just think they'll break the internet. That seems to be the intention, castrate the Internet to the point where it's just another corporate controlled tool like TV.

the gardener
So does this mean we should go on the Internet an download as much porn as we can now before the filter takes effect?
Austin Allegro
I find this sort of logic quite ridiculous. Its as if people have not been up to all sorts before. The 60's, the twenties, the Romans and the ancient Greeks to name but a few. The idea that we are all 'creating' deviant sexual activity today that has never been seen before is pretty laughable. The only difference is its relayed easily on the internet these days. Just a modern version of pervy pics on Greek vases etc. Yes. Absolutely laughable argument. Some years ago I visited the 'erotic' temples in Kujaraho in India, which are covered with thousands of erotic carvings from hundreds of years ago. Before I went, I thought, 'yeah right, it will be really tame'. Boy was I wrong. It was like a stone-carved version of youporn - melon-chested women having things done to them left-right-and-centre by ahem, 'well developed' men etc etc. Presumably any images of those will be banned now also? I suppose it had to happen eventually though. The state simply couldn't allow unfettered access to any kind of information for its citizens; for the same reason you had the Stamp Acts etc and licenced printing presses 200 years ago. It just took longer to work out how to control the internet.

ccc
Interesting watching only fools on Bbc1 just now. How times change. Already done a joke about Rodney having a limp wrist coz he likes to get to know burds proper. And another about him pulling a 15 year old burd he thought was 19. Imagine this was a new comedy on Bbc1.. . .

stormymonday_2011
I stopped and had a good gawp at a couple of seven-spotted ladybirds at it today. Nature's ace. edit: this would probably qualify as 'opt-in' imagery though... Apparently it is acceptable to watch animals shagging each other on prime time TV but not to watch humans having sex with each other. I think the comedian Dave Allen pointed out that anomaly a long time ago. It is a strange, strange world
