Shame they are still down on last year by -0.7 and on last quarter -0.9%....I think we are still f***ked. Maybe all them people that weren't out buying anything cause they have no money were out buying massively over priced houses in the hope of making a fortune. Rain on Sunday and Monday forecast. This follows on from Bath & West show with exceptionally poor attendance due to shift of dates due to Jooobilee. Attendances so poor that school parties offered free entry to try to boost numbers.

Most people don't have any skills or talent, so property is the game for them. They get a liar loan and then wait a year and sell for 100% profit..... Not anymore though, as property is one sure way to throw all your cash on a fooking bonfire these days. We now know why Thomas Cook renegotiated their finance. What doesn't seem to be quoted from the article is the possible civil unrest in Greece, and probably a massive jump in the risk free rate, credit crunch 2 and knock on recession. I know they have a new chief exec arriving soon (who apparently was an expert in creating an online business at PremierFarnell) but what on earth are they doing saying things like this! edit: I suppose the interim chief is going. Says it all This is not advice! "If Greece exits (the euro), for the tourism industry it could be very profitable," interim chief executive Sam Weihagen said after the company posted a steep first-half loss on Thursday. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2012/05/31/uk-thomascook-results-idUKBRE84U0F420120531 Edited May 31, 2012 by Ash4781

plummet expert
Eagerly awaiting the "Mixed weather causes highstreet confusion and lack of sales" headline. Mervyn King has let it be known that inflation is entirely down to the rain in the Spring. Sources close to him reported (with a mobile phone recorder on), that "the current recession was brought on by the Royal Wedding last year and the Jubilee and Olympics this year will prolong it. Christmas is due to get in the way of any recovery in 2012, so the upturn won't come until after the New Year. Even then the Eurozone may implode and QE 3, 4 & 5 may have to be rescheduled to February 2013." Funny, but there was no mention of anyone running out of money or being in a debt crisis!! jammo
You know what gets me about Halfords. Every single time I go in there it's so difficult to get simple service. I don't just mean now and then, but each and every time. Often the checkout till is left abandoned, the bike repair place certainly is, and the car repair desk usually is. It would be a good shop if they weren't so shy.

They just announced 1000 new jobs "In the 12 months to 31 March, its pre-tax profit was £92m, down 27% from £126m a year earlier, with the firm citing a "tough economic environment". Its revenues were 1% lower at £863m." Profit down 27% on the same turnover. Sounds like a peach. And I didn't even need to open a broadsheet
