Yep,  until a viable third party turns up there is little point in voting now, unless you have strong preference for a local candidate for local reasons IMO.

Or a strong preference for Sunak ceasing to be PM.

All you need to do is abolish the benefits, which has two effects

1. Removes the incentive to come here and not work

2. Stops natives sitting on their arse pushing out further benefits scroungers

benefits aimed to top up the salaries of the working poor and housing benefits create extremely counter-productive incentives and market distortions

having said that, most immigrants don't claim any benefits, only certain demographics do - removing benefits won't stop run-away immigration by itself; as badly as this country is run, there any many countries out there much worse off

Part of a robust and fair package of measures announced by the Home Secretary in December, which will mean 300,000 people who arrived in the UK last year would now not be able to, the general salary threshold for those arriving in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa has now increased by 48%, from £26,200 to £38,700.

Adieu to all those HMO rented out to "baristas" for £1k per month.

This will disproportionately affect the North as there are far fewer £39k+ salaries so the North should see more downward pressure or at least less upward pressure on rents and house prices from this change?

Here's the new rules. Not, there's an exemption for health & care workers which now have a threshold of £29k.

Nope, all democracy is like this. Feature, not a bug.

It is always a sham.

That's simply not true. I actually moved here for work originally 🤣

Yes but you are in the minority as you are highly skilled invidual with a degree in economics who collects a pay packet of 200k every year before tax.

I honestly don't give a stuff about other people's GDP. It's mostly just numberwang anyway and doesn't factor in the improving environment, nature continuing to heal from earlier decades of pollution...

My own GDP per person is very healthy and the only GDP in my gift. That's what we should care about...

Is that down to Sadiq or Rishi?

Sadiq. I cycle around now, much nicer on quiet local streets. Lots of people hate it though.

Unfortunately the airports continue to sprinkle pollution over our heads at a great rate.

It's not in your gift! The UK govt is borrowing £200bn/yr to keep you in a job and fill the local housing stock with migrants.

Oh look I moved near a massive airport in a massive city and got polluted wtf!

Children don’t get to choose where their parents find work. Or are you one of those people who enjoys the thought of kids lungs being stunted?
You’re not alone, lots of people enjoy the feeling of superiority they get from celebrating suffering in those less fortunate than themselves. It’s a really common personality defect. ;)

Going to be very hard, when strong and powerful vested interests now have more control that ever before......like penetrating damp, the spores spread everywhere selling as if a good thing.;)

Yes the VI`s have a lot of control now but the public are not going to take the gender/cancel/woke agenda much longer, that era is over, and three of the VI`s favoured Ponzi schemes are in trouble - property, CRE and education - fun times - Monster raving loony party anyone?

No, they paid attention when men came back from WW1 and 2 and demanded better housing etc. and it wasn`t a sham when workers rights, welfare state, NHS etc. were brought into being, was it a sham during Brexit or Scottish Independence? Both those things look to me like the voting public derailing a favoured agenda of elites.

Yes, but his wealth will make him a target of anger as people see their mortgage and other bills rocket while he tools about in his Bentley, the British are like this, it is the Tall Poppy Syndrome or whatever you call it, people would tolerate anything when their property was making them lots of money, now they are losing this guy will be the target of all that weird debt serf emotion that people carry around with them.

It's a compromise.

There's nothing stopping concerned parents who don't want negative impacts of modern industry, applying to live in a country or place with less economic development. It's nothing to do with superiority, you seemingly seem torn internally that you willingly want to live in a modern world (like near an airport) for economic benefits but want to place the negative burdens at someone elses feet.

If you want clean air apply for a job as a lighthouse keeper in the back end of Scotland and prioritise your kids lungs if that's a burning issue for you.

London got cleaner air 😉

Yes, some of the pockets of foul air has improved.....but with clean air zones, it has pushed all the traffic down main roads causing worse congestion and delays, what about the people that live on those roads!.....better but still not the best air in the country.;)

Boris had poor dress sense and combed his hair with a balloon in the morning...is that good enough? Seriously though RS is on a different level of wealth to other PM`s I think, and the fact that he just more or less took over without an election will play very badly for him IMO, the British don`t like that sort of thing at all.

RS is like someone who got on the stage at a Stones or Iron Maiden gig and managed to run about and dance (or headbang) for a while and maybe shout something into a microphone, he shouldn`t be there, it is obvious to everyone that he shouldn`t be there but he doesn`t want to go willingly, the election is Big Bill from security putting him in a headlock and throwing him back into the crowd.
