Gotta love this thread.

All of the women: Shave it off, bald men are sexy.

All of the men: I know of this expensive/dangerous/potentially disfiguring treatment that might help you keep/regrow a few strands of hair.

:D

I know, it's hilarious. And I say that as someone who's been super neurotic about losing my hair for the best part of a decade despite continuous evidence that many women couldn't care less.

I am trying to decipher that.

The price of a prescription ie £8.40 per item, any item......so two items on a prescription costs £16.80, never last more than a month, so small units.....when the actual retail cost could be less.

So when a person who gets it free will be more inclined to waste drugs ie not take them......so much is wasted because it is free.

When people who know they will have to pay will possibly avoid going to the GP or not collect the prescription.

In some other countries more drugs are available to buy over the counter, you pay the retail price at the chemist for many more effective drugs that cost far less less than £8.40. ;)

Edit: This would not affect you as you live in Wales.....

Oh and I went to the cafe to grab a coffee about 15 mins ago and there was a totally bald guy with a few tufts in the front standing beside me. Must have been a hair transplant victim, a horseshoe, completely smooth with no crown but mysteriously about 30 lone hairs sticking up at the hairline.

Ha, but I remember reading in the personal column of a biker mag many years ago. Woman seeks male biker type. Must have bike, and please must have hair! I reckon if I kept my helmet on like Judge Dredd, she might not have found out.

Ah, it is not ALL women though.

Back in 2002 I had a gf roll over in bed, look at my head and say "It's a shame that you are going to lose your hair.".

Correct. I used to buy my ventolin in Portugal. 3 euros per inhaler compared to £8.40 in the UK. The real kicker was that it was made down the road from me in Leatherhead.

I reckon my ex used to rub my head with a pumice stone while I was asleep.

Back on topic, I am likely to need to go for the shaved route in a few years (or become a monk)

My concern is that when younger, because of my height i sliced my head open quite a lot on doors, garage doors, beams - anything put in place by a person of smaller stature with a grudge.

I have a feeling I might have an exceptionally scarred bonce which might not look so good.

(The advantage of height is that so long as I remain standing up, only a basketball player can spot the tonsure)

I have a kind of psoriasis on the crown of my scalp. I think it is psoriasis but I am hesitant to bore the doc with it.

My dad had the same thing when he was my age and used to treat it, as I do, with some special shampoo... that does not work... but I do wonder about going bald completely as whether that will be there or show a scar. I am 6 foot 2 inches tall so probably only seagulls and pidgeons will see it anyway.

Some women do prefer the bald look but it is a tiny minority. (I'm a clean shaved baldy).

Hmm I reckon MrPin's on third rule comes into play here. Whatever feature you have, a third like it, a third don't really care and for the rest it's a negative.

That article appears to be sponsored by a hair loss treatment company, so maynot promote slapheadism!

You could do the old style Samurai look?

Bald on top with strong back and sides with a ponytail emanating from the crown?

otherwise known as the "Max Wall":

Seriously though ... hair is a liability - needs cutting and looking after and stands as a marker of old age when it starts to grey - better rid.

Best thing I ever did for my sex appeal was shaving my head.

I'd really like to see the pictures they used. From the sounds of the article they pitched full head of hair against going bald but hasn't done anything about it which isn't a good look at all.

Yep, if you look at the pic from the article:

Take that bloke, get him to shave his head, hit the gym and grow some designer stubble, and he'd look grand.

EDIT: And look who the study was funded by:

two-month experiment, conducted on behalf of hair loss treatment specialists Maximum Hair, has posted two profiles on a variety of popular internet forums.

Shaved heads seem to suit men if they have a good shaped head for it - this guy may end up looking like a rugby ball?
