zugzwang
They should just ban sexual thoughts. It's a box ticking exercise. No Tory election stump would be complete without an ersatz campaign of moral rearmament. John Major had 'Back to Basics' aka 'Back To My Place'. sombreroloco
This happens only in Britain (England actually, never heard of any Scottish feministas to argue against lad mags). When it comes to sexuality, we are the laughing stock of Europe.
PricedOutNative
Poor kids in this country; taught from a young age that reproduction is something dirty and to be ashamed of, no doubt in a few decades they will be pushing for it to be banned and all people that must reproduce should use IVF.. SpectrumFX
They should just ban sexual thoughts. I think we're heading that way. From the link "we know from extensive evidence that lads' mags like Nuts and Zoo fuel sexist attitudes; attitudes that underpin violence against women." So if you're pro lad mag, you're pro violence against women. Smells like a witch hunt to me. What's intetesting is that there were allways a minority of women expressing these sorts of views, but they were ignored. Now the wind has changed and these ideas are getting traction in the mainstream. What happened?

They must also be popular in the Central African Republic as well.

Byron
The answer seems obvious. Have the woman on the front cover wearing a burkha. This will satisy the prudes and make them seem the idiots that they are.
SarahBell
I don't care desperately about lads mags. I think there are much worse things for 'lads' to be doing. I do think the general photoshopping of people generally that goes on is horrendous. these are silly but you know what I mean for the http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/52-worst-photoshop-mistakes-in-magazines/
SpectrumFX
I do think the general photoshopping of people generally that goes on is horrendous. Agreed. The photoshopping thing isn't constructive, I wouldn't bat an eyelid if they banned that.

Would like to know what they say the evidence is? is it when a guy attacks a girl when caught and asked why he did it, does he say 'cos I saw it in a mag/paper/ online ? it would probably be the obvious thing to say to try and blame something else rather than themselves. I'd be quite happy for girls to look at chippendales starkers in mags or online if they so wish, or male models near the podium of a female only sporting event if they so wish. motch
When the girl on the left shows up pretending to be the girl on the right does she lie again and say that's how I was 6 months ago - I can be that way again if you just stick with me for another 6 months. Dave needs votes, hence he's unleashed Claire Perry to go and find some. Similar to the right wing in the US enlisting the religious nutcases. Although in this particular case I think it's entirely up to the Co op to sell whatever they wish and since they're owned by their membership that's who should decide. However, they're continuing to sell the mags, they just want them covered up which says to me they're happy to make money out of the images but want to appear prurient. I'd call that hypocrisy. ccc
Saw an advert on daytime tv yesterday. Was some sort of 'amusing' take on a few girls going to what looked like the opera. Were making little comments about what was about to start. Then raised their wee glasses when the curtain raised. Turns out its a group of male strippers - who you see from behind wearing almost nothing. You then realise the girls chat earlier was not very subtle innuendo about the blokes bodies and what they were about to perv at. Why is this acceptable and the opposite is some sort of rape inducing filth ? The whole thing is beyond ridiculous. Imo the people behind this should be rounded up and shot. May sound harsh - but their time on this planet is a complete waste.

I know it sounds a little TFH but there really appears to be some sort of co-ordinated effort going on here. More and more things on tv using mens bodies as objects. At the same time more and more against doing the same with women. What's the point ? We already have men branded as rapists and child stalkers. What's the end game ? happy_renting
with the pending abolition of male-preference primogeniture in the monarchy in the uK, I believe that there will finally be no legislation or state rules that preferentuially favours males in the UK. However, there is a growing body of customs and practices in the state that favour females. The continuing difference in state pension age is one, expenditure on health is another.. There is, for example, no NHS routine screening of males for breast cancer, even though it does kill men. The prevalence of child custody being awarded to mothers by courts is another. Expect misandrists like Harriett Harman to continue chipping away at men's rights, attempting to institutionalise her brand of sexism, under the guise of 'feminism'. MrPin
I'm not sure I remember when "Lad's Mags" first appeared! Probably in the 90s I think! I wasn't really impressed by any of them! I don't have a problem with lads looking at pictures of nude ladies, because they will anyway! But I think the pictures are very airbrushed, and the commentary is very "laddish"! For those of you old enough, a copy of "Mayfair" from the late 70s, beats them hands down! Lovely ladies, posed nicely, and they looked real! It wasn't "filth". Of course, I only bought it for the motoring article!
