I don't think Jim sees the irony in that statement. He is getting a site at a subsidized price - did he seriously think the local council wouldn't make him do something for it? zugzwang
The Grand Designs crowd are always mad keen to advertise the eco credentials of their building materials, even as they're being flown half way around the world to the disused aerodrome or cow-shed they're 'sensitively' redeveloping. worried1
And the council will have to maintain that place forever. I'd love to see it in 5 years and interview the neighbours, see what kind of grief has been caused. Yep. Presumably £500k is quite a lot of money to live in this area, so I can't see the neighbours being in step with this type of family. It is only going to get worse as well, because although the mother herself cannot have any more kids, it appears that her existing kids are already popping out new ones and if they do this at 12-14, then I'd assume they will want to stay in the family home for a while longer. The other thing that I couldn't understand in the article was the part where they say that she has 'complete comtrol' over the plans for the house. Why on earth would they give a socially illiterate person any input to the design/planning of a house? That part must be a mistake. This is another thing that will be laughed at in the future - the fact that we are encouraging this type of behaviour.
interestrateripoff
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/412088/EXCLUSIVE-Jobless-mother-of-eleven-Heather-Frost-to-get-500-000-luxury-home-we-pay-for Shameless Heather Frost kicked up such a fuss about her “nightmare” living arrangements that she was gifted the custom-built six-bedroom house.Today the Daily Express takes the first look inside the idyllic rural home which would cost hard-working families at least £1,500 a month to rent. Benefit scrounger Frost’s eco-mansion was designed to reduce energy and water consumption and let in as much natural light as possible. A 1,850 sq ft modern, detached property that millions can only dream of occupying, it has three bathrooms, a large open plan kitchen-diner and two lounges with French windows. Yes hard working families dream of occupying a decent house because they are too fecking expensive! Hard working families can't afford £1500 in rent, the only way most hard working families can afford such a property is by having loads of kids and not working. Recruiting for suitably qualified Full-time Scroungers can be notoriously difficult as the hiring process often fails to allow the most skilled candidates to demonstrate the extent of their scrounging potential. My company specialises in filling such vacancies and we have a pool of pre-screened candidates available nationwide. In order to maximise the cost savings from engaging with us we can offer fixed-price, success-based terms as part of a national framework agreement. If any candidate fails to achieve their target level of scrounging then all fees in respect of that candidate will be waived. I have taken the liberty of attaching a quotation for our services based on a two-year exclusive deal, alongside detailed return on investment calculations which clearly demonstrate that in return for £5m invested with us, £30m of social capital is returned to the community even excluding the £1bn stimulus to local businesses through our patented accelerated scrounging process. I look forward to meeting you to discuss the full range of ways in which we can drive down the cost of working with the scrounging community. Yours sincerely, Emma Harrison Managing Director S(crounge)4U"
Mrs Bear
http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=191625 6 bedrooms? LHA HB was capped at 4... AFAIK there is a max 4 bedroom rate, but I guess if you can find a 5 or 6 bed for the same money... Wouldn't have thought it normally possible, unless you pick a seriously grotty area. Have they made an exception here? Around here the 4 bed max is (I think) about £1600 pcm and a HB immigrant family with 5 kids had to move out of the area last year because the LL whacked the rent up (I gather she'd let them have it relatively cheaply after a long void) and there was nothing else available locally for anything like the same money. swissy_fit
If benefits (including housing benefits) were limited to what they would be if people had two children, the motivation to multiply would be removed at a stroke. Contraception is rightly free. The fault lies with the idiotic state permitting this, not the fat scroungers (though that is indeed what they are) - they're just opportunistic low-in-the-hierarchy chimp descendants doing what they will do. I agree although I would say the people who think that this is ok are partly responsible. Someone I know (who lives in a small flat) told me "this is a poor woman who needs our help". I was amazed that he could take that view. Personally I would give her a small flat somewhere with no jobs and lots of bunk beds. IMHO that is generous.
