They occasionally used to spit-roast a hooker with the father at the business end, happily telling his son "your mum used to really love me doing this to her!" as he charged up her wrong 'un I suppose they had to go with the hooker - harder to catch a wing or full back. I don't think it's necessarily false, but it seems like many asian countries have a freindly side and a viscious side, that is alien to us. They seem to do horrible things in wars. Went to Koh Samui for a few weeks in the early eighties. Someone pointed out to me that I was the only single male that hadn't acquired a local compagnon. I couldn't even score in Thailand. They're so used to rejection from hatchet-faced western women that when they meet young attractive women who are nice to them, even though in their heart of hearts they know it's all an act to gain money, they still fall for it, fall in love and end up being fleeced for everything. Try Hungary, either Budapest or some of the larger cities such as Debrecen, Szeged or Pecs. You won't exactly be 'hunted down' (but would you really want to be by prossies?) but you will have a lot more luck than you would in a British or western European city. I read somewhere that a smile in Thailand is something used with social inferiors, children etc. It's not something you do when you want to show respect. I also read that it's common even among Thais for much older men to have much younger wives (because the marriage is basically an economic bargain, as it used to be in western countries). However, as they become more westernised, the Thais are starting to find the idea of large age gaps distasteful (as they have become in the west) so that even some of the prozzies are becoming a bit fussier about who they go with. Seen quite a few articles about blokes not allowed to go out on the Thai streets alone and in major trouble should they even appear to be looking at another woman.
