http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3235704/Sex-robots-BANNED-Experts-call-crackdown-unnecessary-undesirable-technology.html

  • Robophilia, the word for a sexual attraction to robots, to become common
  • Lack of human contact could lead to feelings of isolation and depression
  • Experts say current machines reinforce traditional stereotypes of women

A leading robot ethicist has warned that 'sexbots' could seriously damage human relationships.

Experts hope to use artificial intelligence to create lifelike machines that can talk and have sex like a human.

However, Dr Kathleen Richardson told the BBC the technology is 'unnecessary and undesirable'.

Do the machines complain of headaches, feeling tired and of not being in the mood?

She believes that they reinforce traditional stereotypes of women and the view that a relationship need be nothing more than physical.

... whereas a "rabbit", of course, does not reinforce stereotypes of men and the view that a man need be nothing more than a walking d**k.

Tenga Flip Hole and a nice big bottle of Liquid Silk lubricant.

Try that and you'll not feel any real need for a robot. Or a woman for that matter.

Or so I've heard.

did your friend warm it first?

I have no problem with sex bots for either gender (and women are equally capable of objectification). Some people never manage to find a suitable partner, or have a succession of terrible experiences. Others may have fantasies which no right thinking human partner would agree to.

If more people were getting their rocks off however often they liked - I suspect the world would be a much more peaceful place. It's easy to imagine that sexual violence would practically disappear if sex bots were mainstream.

And you get to fix their car for nothing too. Still I don't mind that really, it's just that I remember the ex lady bought a sh!t car yet again, and didn't take me with her. That's what blokes are for, I guess.

A lot of people keep dogs or cats for companionship. The classic example is of course the lonely spinster with dozens of cats for company. I don't recall anybody saying that pets should be banned because they might harm human relationships.

Calling single women "apprentice cat lady" is rude (but funny), so there is some degree of censure.

Yes, but mainly from men. When I hear a frumpy middle aged academic from the University of Budleigh Salterton call for a ban on women keeping cats for companionship, I might start taking bans on sex robots seriously!

(How's that for a sentence! )

Stepford wives and sexbots are centuries away, and probably unnecessary. Given the uniquely sensory and objectifying nature of male sexuality, plausible synthetic genitalia combined with an immersive 3d CGI will probably suffice - augmented porn, if you like.

It will probably be something you wear.

An Occulus Rift headset and a fleshlight. I'm sold.

Nah, that's just a copout, like ritalin for ADHD. By this argument you might as well stick everyone on soma rations right away.

The OP citation is either a Christian moral campaign or a feminist closed-shop scam. I'm going for the feminist closed-shop scam. Here's why:

A lot of people keep dogs or cats for companionship. The classic example is of course the lonely spinster with dozens of cats for company. I don't recall anybody saying that pets should be banned because they might harm human relationships.

Bestiality hasn't really caught on yet, though who knows. Certainly fems don't feel their sexual power threatened by single men keeping pets. Every fem campaign is consistent with the aim of simultaneously maximising fem sexual rights and minimising responsibility. Hence pushing contraception and abortion, shaming the mail-order bride industry, and now the right to dress as sluttishly as they want without any thought that this is bound to provoke greater unwanted male attention. Oh, and as per the Proudman fiasco, also the right to tart themselves up while attacking any man who then comments on the very appearance they themselves create!

It's all fem politics. Thanks Emmeline.

Here is another robot I'd like to have sex with:

Hang about, didn't she stab the guy that was nobbing her in the guts? (Ex Machina, right?)
