Wales suffered a massive blow today if they lose both Halfpenny and Web

England looked good in the first 25 minutes today offence looked good but they seem unable to adapt as the game evolves ,but both teams seemed a bit lackluster I think there's going to have to be a lot of luck involved or some massive improvements in performance if any of the northern hemisphere teams are going to get anywhere near the finals no matter winning it

France is my dark horse if they click they have the ammunition to go all the way especially now they have a reliable kicker

England to get knocked out in the semis is my prediction.

Wales look significantly weakend, assuming that to be the case it all boils down to the Australia game and who finishes top of the group.

Win and you've got a likely QF against Scotland, a SF against France/Ireleand/Argentina, then a final against Aus/SA/NZ.

Lose and it's SA in the quarters followed by NZ in the semis.

My guess is we get dumped out by SA in the quarters.

I think the 10 nations comment is meant to convey that 'World Cup' in any sport would normally have a much larger amount of teams that could, on a good day, surprise and be a realistic contender for winning. Rugby Union prob only has 9/10 teams which would qualify for that and prob only 6 with any realistic chance of winning the trophy.

I don't do rugby at all but I did briefly work with Callum Clarke, who Sky Sports news informs me narrowly failed to make the England team. It was gratifying, on reading his Wikipedia page, to discover that he did indeed turn out to be exactly the kind of tosspot that I suspected he would.

Well it is a game for Toffs

Mmmm it's not, but it is certainly being priced as such in this world cup.

Our lad plays at his local rugby club and for the sum of £70 per year membership that's it for the season. When speaking to other father's whose children play footie, you are talking match fees, subs every game and membership fees, i.e children's Footie is more expensive than the fees we shell out.
