geezer466
The sooner this house of cards comes down the better. Sarkozy is socialist, but Hollande even more so. If When Hollande wins he will reach for extra spending and debt, but not being able to print his own currency bond yields will shoot up and will bring about the collapse faster. Hundreds of millions of people are in economic suspended animation waiting for the end of the big ponzi scheme, so I for one welcome any acceleration. The markets are already beginning to speak.... 08.47 The yield on French ten-year bonds has been edging up in response to the presidential election results, just as markets have slid the other way. They're currently up to 3.106pc, from 3.081pc late Friday - as investors demand higher returns on the risk of lending to the nation

If they cut out the middlemen then the unsustainability of those rates would immediately become apparent and you would see massive hikes in the base rate. zugzwang
Yup. Here's a trivia question; who was No.1 in the UK charts last time there was an attempted military coup in Spain? Black Lace, "El Vino Collapso"?
The Ayatollah Buggeri
The problem is that Le Pen commands a massive part of the vote. To date, she has not endorsed any of the winners. I guess she will play a long game, waiting to be wooed by the others. The difficulty is, just what is the make up of her voters? I guess only a small proportion are the old party racists, so it is possible that many could swing to Hollande. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Le Pen has made a declaration to the effect of a plague on both their houses, i.e. that she'd rather participate in a gangbang with a posse of Algerian immigrant imams than endorse either Hollande or Sarkozy in round two. But I agree with you on the diffculty. Half the FN's electorate support Le Pen because they want to bring back the guillotine and have the foreign legion kick the Algerians' posteriors, while the other half do so because they have no job and the price of food is skyrocketing. Predicting which way they're going to jump (with the apathy party being on the list of options) is nigh on impossible. The general consensus seems to be that Hollande is going to win, though possibly not by very much. More significant will be the next round of Parliamentary elections in France, in which Le Pen could increase her effective power base significantly. Paddles
Black Lace, "El Vino Collapso"? Not even close. Dolly Parton, 9 to 5. Curiously, Sheena Easton (later "Sheena E") had a number one about 3 weeks later with a song with a bracketed title of "9 to 5". I need to consult Wisden, but I think that's a first. I see that Melonchon who took 10% of the vote has endorsed Hollande. Sarkozy now has to look towards Le Pen. Whether a deal will be struck, who knows? We have to realise that the modern FN party has matured beyond its crude beginnings and it is no longer possible to demonize it in the same way as the UK BNP is demonized. shindigger
This needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Clears throat..... IF YOU WANT A HPC, VOTE LABOUR AT THE NEXT ELECTION. Its really that simple. There isn't a bleach strong enough to get you "clean" afterwards though. Edited April 23, 2012 by shindigger

She wants to see Sarkozy humiliated so that she can claim to be the real leader of the opposition and then build a base in the legislative elections from which to mount a more credible run for the presidency next time. Nationalist
A quick trot through the numbers shows that Hollande has won. Even if Mme le Pen wanted to help Sarky she hasn't got the fire power. So France will be lurching to the left, with all that means - fiscal imprudence etc. My thoughts here: http://britishnationalist.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/marine-le-pen-kingmaker.html

Le Pen and Sarkozy are miles apart on most issues, particularly when it comes to economics . In fact if you take out immigration some people might think the main diference between Le Pen's right wing NF and the Melenchons socialist LF is the initial in their name. Le Pen is the only hope for France. The alternative is that the nation of France and French culture will cease to exist 100 years from now, and all this talk of who is slightly more pink will be purely academic since all matters economic will be determined by the Sharia. I don't know why French people keep moaning about Algerian immigrants. It's a French backed dictatorship in Algiers after all. Overthrow it and establish a democracy, and all the Algerian immigrants will go home.

Why the heck would an Algerian want to return to that cess pit of a country when their lifestyle is so much better in France? Those born in France are as likely to return as British Asians are likely to return to India. None at all.
