What do you mean "our" continuing delay?  The UK has made just about the most rapid progress of any major country.

Like I keep saying, removing fossil fuel use is a truly massive undertaking.  It can't be done this week or this decade.

That barely visible  sliver of blue on the top of the plot (put your specs on to see it) is the extent of progress.  Less than 4% of total energy.

🤦‍♂️ That barely visible sliver is our lack of progress.

Our "progress" to date mainly consists of switching to gas because it was cheaper than coal, outsourcing our carbon production to other countries and large scale false accounting re Biofuels.

Nope, via china and India they'll survive.

The only way to hurt Russia is to turn off Europe's economy.

That article is about the attack around Kiev.

They did run out of supplies, were defeated and had to make a rapid retreat, so rapid they left 7,000 bodies behind.

In the East they have ready access to supplies direct from Russia so the war there will turn into a long slog.

Erm..no it isn't. The article makes no specific mention at all of the theatre around Kiev, it speak's in general terms

The Russians hit 800 targets last night by the way, they're no where near showing signs of running out of anything.

It is obvious what it was referring to and proved correct.

Where did you get the information about hitting 800 targets from. If the Russian's had the capability to do that they wouldn't be in the mess they are in.

So obvious they made no mention of Kiev.

If I were you I'd worry less about Russia or more about your cognitive state

Possibly, but it also represents one of the best efforts towards renewables out of all major economies.

Where has it got us?  A barely visible sliver on the total UK energy plot (the plot for the whole world looks similar but the barely visible sliver of renewables is virtually microscopic).

What's more, that barely visible sliver is the easy bit.  There is still capacity in fossil fuel generation to compensate for low wind conditions.  That capacity will disappear going forward, and that is still a problem not being addressed or costed for.

After the relentless rain, South Africa sounds the alarm on the climate crisis

Survivors of South Africa’s devastating floods have described “sheet upon sheet of relentless rain” that washed away entire houses, bridges and roads, killing about 450 people and making thousands homeless.

The storm, which delivered close to an entire year’s usual rainfall in 48 hours, took meteorologists by surprise and has been blamed by experts on climate change. The new disaster comes after three tropical cyclones and two tropical storms hit south-east Africain just six weeks in the first months of this year.

The full extent of the devastation caused by the floods in South Africa this month is yet to become clear, with many victims still missing and authorities still learning of new damage around the eastern coastal city of Durban. Many tens of thousands of people remain without water, and there are rising concerns about an outbreak of infectious disease.

And:

https://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/south-africa-population

Based on current projections, South Africa’s population will continue to grow until 2082, reaching just over 80 million people before plateauing and slightly declining the rest of the century. South Africa’s population growth rate is currently 1.28% per year.

South Africa’s birth rate is 19.995 births per 1,000 people and its death rate is 9.3 deaths per 1,000 people. The birth rate is more than double the death rate in South Africa. Additionally, the fertility rate is 2.372 births per woman, well above the population replacement rate of 2.1 births per woman. While the birth and fertility rates are both high, they have each decreased annually, indicating the slowing of South Africa’s population growth.

Once again Peanut, it is virtually inevitable this event is not the worst on record there and it has happened before.  The details will no doubt appear shortly.  This happens every time.

Your second story about the population gives us a clue about the story reporting though.  The same thing happening back in 1950, or whatever, wouldn't affect so many people, and the Guardian wouldn't have reported it over here.

Do you believe in man made climate change or not?

When you say "believe" that shows it is a religious cult in your mind.

In your posts, you are showing us the Anger Of The Climate God.  He or she (or whatever) is displeased with us in Britain and demands sacrifice.

We must self-flagellate for our sins against the rest of the world.

I'm still waiting for your answer to how we rob those offshore trust funds.  I don't think you responded to that.

@byron78

There you go, I answered your question back then.  In fact I've probably said the same thing several times over.

It's quite difficult to read that small print, but I find if people have to put a bit of work in to find something out, they remember it better.  Because recollection is a massive problem on here.

Just for everyone's benefit here, go ahead and clarify. You agree that climate change is linked to manmade emissions, correct?

You've clearly got the wrong opinion for some of the residents of this forum, so are getting the treatment. Rather than listen to other viewpoints there seems to be a hardcore group more interested in name calling and belittling others.

I stick with what I put (in bold).  Please note this is not exactly what you have written, it is saying some portion of climate change is linked to manmade emissions.  Which is actually what the IPCC says.
