Royw6
You've still lost me. What's this got to do with your daughter getting married ? Ok, you know when you see a very fat old man with a Ukrainian 20 year old blonde, she doesn't love him really. When you see Peter stringfellow on to groping his latest Moldovan 20 year old girlfriend, well the chances are she doesn't find him as attractive as things appear. Poor people get ******ed literally and financially by the rich. Exit means decline. England will not turn in To willy wonker world of chocolate lakes and candy floss trees. Your argument about voting brexit for future generations, is a nonsense, this action consigns future generations to join the poorest in Europe, those outside of the eu. IMHAL
And what the leavers don't get is that to many others this sounds like some sort of (economic) self-mutilation from trying to dig out imaginary things crawling under your skin. Completely unnecessary damage, but many leavers view themselves as holy warriors fighting a war where any cost is worth paying. I'm guessing right now everyone is trying to figure out how to make best use of a bad situation. It's pretty clear the Leave campaign had no no plans to win that vote. Who stands to gain most from Brexit-lite? Is it Germany's financial industry? Who gains? No one - our GDP will be extracted as punishment and to send a message, not for greedy gain. The EU is not perfect (by a long chalk) but they do have unity as a key objective - which to some equals loss of sovereignty and to others means long term peace. the gardener
Ok, the worst performing economies in Europe are not members of the eu. They are poor and cannot trade on equal terms as those in the eu club. Some are so impoverished they marry for opportunity. The U.K. By leaving the eu enters the club of little irrelevant countries which equals economic decline long term. If the eu survives your children and grand children will be far poorer than now and have less opportunity. I never thought I'd say this, but I hope the eu implodes, this is the only way the uk can maintain any relevance in the world, and equally in Europe. Without this the uk is consigned to the dustbin, as our economy will return to an insular irrelevance. UK, little irrelevant country?Troll. Very clever argument, a real brexit intellectual (I am aware that's an oxymoron). There is only two small problems with it that I can see: 1) it's just made up. 2) there is no evidence for it. Apart from that, full marks, have a gold star.

Source :- http://www.economicsonline.co.uk/Global_economics/Trading_blocs.html The main disadvantages of trading blocs Loss of benefits The benefits of free trade between countries in different blocs is lost. Distortion of trade Trading blocs are likely to distort world trade, and reduce the beneficial effects of specialisation and the exploitation of comparative advantage. Inefficiencies and trade diversion Inefficient producers within the bloc can be protected from more efficient ones outside the bloc. For example, inefficient European farmers may be protected from low-cost imports from developing countries. Trade diversion arises when trade is diverted away from efficient producers who are based outside the trading area. See: Trade creation and trade diversion. See: EU Sugar Case Retaliation The development of one regional trading bloc is likely to stimulate the development of others. This can lead to trade disputes, such as those between the EU and NAFTA, including the recent Boeing (US)/Airbus (EU) dispute. The EU and US have a long history of trade disputes, including the dispute over US steel tariffs, which were declared illegal by the WTO in 2005. In addition, there are the so-called beef wars with the US applying £60m tariffs on EU beef in response to the EU’s ban on US beef treated with hormones; and complaints to the WTO of each other’s generous agricultural support. During the 1970s many former UK colonies formed their own trading blocs in reaction to the UK joining the European common market.

Royw6
Really? It's a pretty firm tenet of dominant economic theories that barriers to trade are not a good thing.Nope you see you don't have a clue, same as that Harvard paper one of you shared. The USA has a protectionist trade block, opec is a trade block, there are those in Africa, and in Asia. The whole world has trade blocks and they work just fine. Moreover, you brexiters were all going on about foreigners take our jobs like the red necks on South Park, now your saying you want free trade. Logic was never part of the brexiters arguments, you have stated that yourselves. You change arguments like a snake sheds it skin. Finally I understand the brexiters mindset, just a bunch of old moaners who just like to complain, I suggest you get hobbies, do something positive, go shopping, kiss your partner, be happy. They might be alien to you, but it might just make you happy

flb
Quite: http://capx.co/how-the-eu-starves-africa-into-submission/ Another older article:http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/eu-subsidies-deny-africas-farmers-of-their-livelihood-478419.html That's normal, though, business as usual. The EU protects its own producers, as it should. If it wouldn't, then EU agriculture would have to suffer, as EU farmers couldn't compete with people kept in slavery, threatened with a machete or with Chinese prisoners that don't get paid anything to work. There'd be precisely 0 farms left in the UK if UK workers would be offered African or Chinese salaries. Those titles are pure propaganda. If you follow the same logic, you might as well say "Apple starves Nokia into submission". It's business and, in business, you're either the big fish or the little fish. Trying a "fair" competition with failed countries only means a race to the bottom. Someone said "you must be proud" - well, I don't know about others, but yes, I am. This is the HPC forum. If only the government had enough sense to apply the same kind of measures to "overseas investors", this forum would have to shut down for lack of purpose/activity.
