Who's the worst possible replacement for housing minister job?

As he will undoubtedly be given the job.

Oakeshott? The BTLers BTLer.

More funky yellow socks on Newsnight?

****.

We could be here all afternoon thinking up names from all 3 parties.

Not one of them would make the slightest difference.

From the BBC

1334: Mark Prisk has been sacked as housing minister. He tweets "Been asked to step aside from Housing for a younger generation. Disappointing but it's been a great eleven years on frontbench."

Boles would be a bit more interesting

I found Boles to be very sympathetic towards the younger generations housing situation. His clash with Simon Jenkins was hilarious.

Maybe it will be Boles as Prisk mentions he is stepping aside for a younger generation. Not really confident that Cameron has the will to take on the Tory nimbys though.

Didnt know we even had a housing minister...what does he do all day?

(VM&MM) WE'RE BUSY DOING NOTHING,

WORKING THE WHOLE DAY THROUGH.

TRYING TO FIND LOTS OF THINGS,

NOT TO DO.

WE'RE BUSY DOING NOTHING,

ISN T IT JUST A CRIME?

WE'D LIKE TO BE UNHAPPY,

BUT WE NEVER DO HAVE THE TIME.

VM I HAVE TO WATCH THE RIVER,

TO SEE THAT IT DOESN'T STOP.

AND STICK AROUND THE ROSE BUDS,

SO THEY'LL KNOW WHEN TO POP.

AND KEEP THE CRICKETS CHEERFUL,

THEY'RE REALLY A SOLEMN BUNCH.

HUSTLE, BUSTLE,

AND ONLY AN HOUR FOR LUNCH.

MM WE'RE BUSY DOING NOTHING,

WORKING THE WHOLE DAY THROUGH.

TRYING TO FIND LOTS OF THINGS

NOT TO DO.

WE'RE BUSY GOING NOWHERE,

ISN'T IT JUST A CRIME?

WE'D LIKE TO BE UNHAPPY,

BUT WE NEVER DO HAVE THE TIME.

VM I HAVE TO WATCH THE SUN UP,

HE'S LIABLE TO SLEEP ALL DAY.

AND THEN INSPECT THE RAINBOWS,

SO THEY'LL BE BRIGHT AND GAY.

I MUST REHEARSE THE SONGBIRDS,

TO SEE THAT THEY SING IN KEY.

VM&MM HUSTLE,BUSTLE, AND NEVER A MOMENT FREE.

ORCHESTRA PLAYS A SECTION ON ITS OWN

VM WE'RE BUSY DOING NOTHING,

WORKING THE WHOLE DAY THROUGH.

MM TRYING TO FIND LOTS OF THINGS NOT TO DO.

VM WE'RE BUSY GOING NOWHERE,

ISN'T IT JUST A CRIME?

MM WE'D LIKE TO BE UNHAPPY,

BUT WE NEVER DO HAVE THE TIME.

VM I HAVE TO MEET A TURTLE,

TO TEACHIN'HIM HOW TO SWIM.

I HAVE TO SHINE THE DEW DROPS,

THEY'RE LOOKING RATHER DIM.

I TOLD MY FRIEND THE ROBIN,

I'D BUY HIM A BRAND NEW NEST.

VM&MM HUSTLE, BUSTLE,

I WISH I COULD TAKE A REST.

VM&MM WE'RE BUSY DOIN' NOTHING,

WORKING THE WHOLE DAY THROUGH.

TRYING TO FIND LOTS OF THINGS

NOT TO DO.

WE'RE BUSY GOING NOWHERE,

ISN'T IT JUST A CRIME?

WE'D BETTER MAKE IT SNAPPY,

THERE'S ANOTHER HILL TO CLIMB.

VM WE'D LIKE TO BE UNHAPPY,

BUT WE NEVER DO HAVE THE TIME.

VM NO,

VM&MM WE NEVER, WE NEVER, WE NEVER, WE NEVER,

WE NEVER

DO HAVE THE TIME.

I can tell you this is not the case, unfortunately. He is wedded to the idea that the young should be forced to pay whatever housebuilders demand, and he defends the Government's actions designed to make that a reality. He told me himself.

edit, and on topic, Prisk has been completely overshadowed as housing minister since Osborne has been all over the big announcements himself. I'm surprised they bother having a minister at all.

This might actually be an improvement. Reynolds is 35 (to Dromey's 65) so may have some sympathy with the priced-out generation (and priced-out people of other ages too).

A Oxford PPE grad with a history of lobbying? She's got a lot to prove, methinks. She seems like the archetypal identikit robot politico.

True, but she's replacing Dromey, who only got the job to keep the unions sweet and didn't exactly put his back into it. How many people on HPC even knew he was shadow housing minister?

I'm not defending Mr Harman at all, and I'm glad he's out, but my experience of PPE-sourced front benchers is that they are very good at eliminating any independent thought in preference of the Party line, else why did they do that course and enter politics? Whether Ms Reynolds personally thinks HtB, FLS etc is a bad idea is entirely beside the point imo.

Here's another climber today, this time for the blues. Another PPE grad:

I did. Took great pleasure in berating both him and Grant Shapps a while ago. Fun for all the (hard working) family.

Oh yeah, I highlighted him as an exemplar specimen of the compliant drone.

I wish that Farage had had chance to answer his last point. If Grease left the euro they would pay back the debt in their new currency not in euro's.
