jp1
Any advance on 'whatever it takes' most welcomed. "Our economy is strong, stable and resiliant, and we will take decisive action to ensure that Britain is well placed to weather the global economic turbulence that started in the US sub-prime market" You can arrange these words in any order Oh, not forgetting to mention that this bust, the worst we have faced since the 1930's, is nowhere near as bad as the 90's under the Tories Edited October 6, 2008 by jp1
A.steve
http://uk.reuters.com/article/personalFina...E49500P20081006 Not sure if it is news here... but this struck me: Britain's Finance Minister Alistair Darling will update parliament in the financial situation later on Monday after saying on Sunday that he was "looking at some pretty big steps", but Treasury officials said there were no plans for any immediate reaction to Germany's pledge. Any advance on 'whatever it takes' most welcomed. We will do whatever it takes..and by the way it's all Lord Palmerstons fault..nothing to do with us ,honest. sbn
What ever happenned to all the talk of a Government MBS bailout. Only a few weeks ago there was talk they might guarentee all MBS and the effect of this would that the banks would be awash with cash again and would be lending it out to halfwits again to get the whole HPI shebang back on the rails. What happenned? Has this happenned (FED Bailout?)? Could it still happen? Would it make any difference?

newbie
He'll stick in a remark that "It came from America" on instructions from Gordon to shift blame. I got this right! It's presently New Labour policy to officially blame the US for this.
