bobthe~
at the moment?655 users isn't that hard to deal with surely or is it my connection at work? I believe RB is the religious one, but IIRC didn't the people come to Noah once the floods actually started? Hey guys, it is the beginning of the end, or more accurately, the end of the beginning. It is slow for me as well. I have had a couple of IPS database errors (or something), so it is not the connection.
se7ensport
at the moment?655 users isn't that hard to deal with surely or is it my connection at work? that will be 655 users that can actually get onto the site without getting IPS Driver Error and yes it is bloooooody slow
Guest The_Oldie
It is really slow, I've just emailed the techies.
@contradevian
There is a term in web hosting, called the "Slashdot Effect." However with HPC I think its the "Bloomberg Effect."
Jason
I keep getting that error. Either way, with a bank run going on, most people can't look away from their screens due to the excitement...

rickspace
IPB is fairly heavy on the CPU useage, so that many users could well cause issues...

Realistbear
at the moment?655 users isn't that hard to deal with surely or is it my connection at work? It keeps jamming on me. I have to clear cache and get another IP address and that sems to work for awhile. Then it slows down again and locks up. Most other websites seem to be working okay. Perhaps there are simply too many people on at once? This website may become the number one website in the nation soon so it might be a good idea for the Mods to think about a substantial upgrade to the server? bobthe~
Its going to down to bandwidth. People such as myself posting pictures is not helping Well don't do it then. Don't you know cgnao has lots of Muwahahahahaha posts with atom bombs piccies to post and you are getting in the way. Tut. It's selfish amphibia like you that are ruining this site. Maybe all the bulls and neithers could desert for a while allowing us to Paaaaaarrrttteh. Techy
Hi everyone, "Techy" here... I was doing some work on the server hosting the HPC database at the time (replicating data to a new, faster storage array!), which caused the site to go slow. I have stopped the sync for now and will monitor the site closely today so we can ride the traffic - sorry for any inconvenience caused... I'll monitor this thread in case there are any further issues, so if anyone spots anything, then drop a reply on this thread. Thanks! redgenieuk
IPB is fairly heavy on the CPU useage, so that many users could well cause issues... You might like to email the techies and say: "How many times do we have to tell you??? MYSQL Cluster. LAMP Stacks." Ted D. True but are the competitors ad free websites in lo-fi? They need to get some better servers and/or bandwidth. Or tell their staff to stop downloading porn in worktime. Techy
There is nothing wrong with the sql servers... Seriously though, I do feel your pain. And we are working very hard (and round the clock) behind the scenes to improve service. The main problem we have had has been that the firmware supplied on our storage arrays has had performance issues. I have been working with the vendor on this issue for nearly a year now and on Tuesday I finally got a new firmware which has fixed the issue for one of our arrays. All systems are currently being migrated to this new array as we speak, and then the other array can be upgraded as well. Once the storage issues are completely resolved, which should be mid/end of next week, we will start working on a LAMP cluster to serve our heavier sites. I only wish you could see the 6x4 foot whiteboard by my desk with the cluster design on it... M.
