The damage that this bunch are doing will never be reversed, pure and utterly evil. These forests belong to the people, not to the government. The governments own figures show that they are on target to balance the budget by 2014, which proves they are cutting too quick. With these, it's around 5 times as bad as the Gov figures. They also seem to include a guarantee for BT & other organisations' pensions sice the recent court ruling. There should be a balanced budget NOW. The debt can't be paid off, so let inflation reduce the debt and effect of interest. Oh, and Land Value Tax to replace most taxes. When will this misery end Hate to disappoint but, your preferred choice of the last government was already selling off acres and acres of forestry commission run woodland and forest, usually by sealed bids, that often went for a mind-blowingly low figure. A brutal and fairly unrecognised fact is that the environmentalist movement is, not new, not original, not thought-provoking and certainly is not cool. Excuse the pun. I've got the following about the US (Wiki), their national parks started long before the Nazis showed up. Could it be that this movement started with the rise of workers' holidays? National parks and national monuments in the United States were originally individually managed under the auspices of the Department of the Interior. The movement for an independent agency to oversee these federal lands was spearheaded by business magnate and conservationist Stephen Mather, as well as J. Horace McFarland. With the help of journalist Robert Sterling Yard, Mather ran a publicity campaign for the Department of the Interior. They wrote numerous articles that praised the scenic qualities of the parks and their possibilities for educational, inspirational, and recreational benefits.[4] This campaign resulted in the creation of a National Park Service. I don't think they advertise the sales very widely at all, ordinarily. There are also grants to cut down pines, sell the wood, and replace with domestic deciduous trees. Most Forestry commision land ISNT historic woods anyway, its mostly pine plantations planted around WW2. Most of it is already intensively logged. If it weren't for coal being industrialised when it was, we would have lost it all. But if we did still have large forests, you'd have things like bears and wolves to worry about. Though if it were in a national park, it would probably be ok. I don't see how there is so little forest coverage in national parks personally, farms I understand - there's no short term gain for farmers to keep them.
