Orb
From my post here: https://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/126104-most-over-priced-shithole/page/3/#comment-1103981939 Where I post the Rightmove link here: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/129230873#/?channel=RES_BUY I'm was stunned when recently I drove past the property in question, and it's been completely tidied up, and there weas a skip in the drive. I can't belive somebody bought that. The work needed to make it habitable, safe, and pleasant must be very extensive, and costly even for a builder/flipper. Somebody actually bought it. Keep and eye and please share if it goes back on the market. Interested to see if it's a "savvy" flipper. I wonder how savvy they think they are! Englaender
I've been waiting and wondering for some time how much they were going to expect for this place once they'd finished doing it up. The answer is ridiculous. On with both Hadleigh: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/135952250 and Knight Frank: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/135941834 I think my favourite photo is the drone shot which shows the pub opposite and the bus stop that's adjacent to the property, meaning those on the top deck get a lovely direct view throughout the garden and the open-plan downstairs every time a bus stops. Presumably the vendors have paid extra for that too! Both listings strangely don't link to the land registry entry for it selling in December 2016 for £690k though: https://themovemarket.com/tools/propertyprices/168-lordswood-road-birmingham-b17-8qh

The building is not bad. Interesting shape but the colours are hideous. Why choose black? Obviously, a lot of creativity has gone into the design of the building and it probably cost a lot to design and build but £2 million? If I had £2 million to spend on a property it would not be in Birmingham. Devon & Cornwall maybe. Perhaps Bath. But not Birmingham. Insanity!!!! I could see that place being £300k/£350 absolute max if it was done really nicely. I wouldn’t be surprised if it cost £150k to get it there. Where’s the profit (assuming it’s an attempted flip)? Dyson Fury
If you "enjoy" viewing properties like this, go to the U.S. website realtor.com and search what's on the market in places like Detroit or South Chicago. Just one example: 3-bedroom detached, 1000 sq ft floor area, yours for just $2500. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/3226-Columbus-St_Detroit_MI_48206_M31193-48816 In many of the streets in the suburbs of Detroit, a lot of the houses have been demolished and the ones that are left stand in the middle of an area of empty, abandoned lots. I think they have more realistic land taxes than we do, so those really cheap places actually aren't.

Looking at the Google streetview and 'wandering around' really shows the total urban decay of the place. I thought we had one or two places 'up north' here in the UK where the local streets were pitiful (graffiti everywhere, etc). BUT at least the houses are inhabited? I wonder IF we will ever see sights like this in the UK? Or, the 'system' steps in to prevent it in one way or another?

Pay 430k for a wooden shed on a beach you can afford a chauffeur and bottled water. As for the loo, best to just get your butler to empty the porta-pottie in the sea; there is enough raw sewerage discharged on the south coast that it'll make no difference. Also this to consider.....better travel freely with four wheels, some beautiful, sandy deserted beaches and clean warm seas can enjoy not that far away for a fraction of that price.... https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/14-devon-beaches-declared-pollution-8575707
