Dubbya
PENT UP DEMAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaarrrggghhh!!A scheme to allow pent up buyers to take over the mortgages and properties of BTL landlords who want to get out... Presumably these lenders would need to agree to transfer the mortgage WITHOUT a revaluation of the property ?! As a scheme, it has some loose ends
the end is a bit nigher
Old dear saying the government shouldn't put money up to help people buy. Great!
xux42
That was the idea! If I'd mentioned the .co.uk bit they'd have laughed and done the 'Conspiracy' bit. Was so looking forward to shouting at Coogan but they cut me!To get on I pretended I was a naive FTB thinking of buying but confused. You did well. So the BBC have finally allowed open discussion of HPC. BUT - they seem geniunely frightened to discuss the (very real) possibility of 50% off peak with no immediate recovery. Leant on by Govt? God they've just finished on a VI "Now you will make money if you buy now!"

Converted Lurker
Yeah she was great, shame they cut her off sharpish. really? appeared to me she was suggesting that her owning was fine but others (common ordinary folk) shouldn't, they should rent, unless they could buy with mainly cash, as rampant buying lowered the allure of owning and prevented her investment going up. She was an 'arl witch and should be burned...after a good dunking to get her to confess her sins against humanity
blobby o mr blobby
Yeah the round up at the end was intense bear talk.
dude
You didn't sound cross. Just being realistic and telling it as it is.Liked the comment on the "silent majority" (or something like that) wanting the prices to fall. I thought you came across very well. Yep. I thought you were excellent -- and amusing to see them cut you off so quickly. Obviously touched a nerve there! I knew it was an HPCer when I heard the terms 'vested interest' and 50% discount. You were probably very wise not to use the term 'sheeple'!
Orsino
I've never heard anything like that on the BBC. Prices down 50% from peak and returning to 2000 or 2001 levels. Not a whimper of dissent, even from the estate agent. Shell-shocked home owners and triumphant HPCers on the airwaves and government housing ministers saying that a house should be a home and that its initiatives to prevent repossession 'will take time'. The few bulls were just clinging to straws such as swapping houses or transferring mortgages between seller and buyer - all laughably impractical. Bloo Loo
Poor deluded caller saying the way forward was swapping houses and paying the difference. I dont think she quite understands the process as it stands . A better idea would be to ban mortgages altogether.

dougless
Well done blacktuesday, for me this was the best bit: - they seem genuinely frightened to discuss the (very real) possibility of 50% off peak with no immediate recovery. They did seem to cut you off a bit sharpish so I think you can take that as an additional badge of honour.
Potwalloper
Well done and thanks for contributing BT! You seemed calm and lucid to me. If a little off message, from a Labour perspective.
juvenal
I'm covered in honey. Was VI slanted but at least some bears were in the studio and some stealth bears got on! I like the phrase 'stealth bears'. Are they the weapons that will bomb the BTL'ers back into the Stone Age?
blobby o mr blobby
Just announced land reg results for last month as -1.9% are these new?
cynic
I was SOOO nervous. Was desperate to mention the vesteds. The lady answering the phone cut me off quick smart! And yes, the 'Verns are cold today. Nice work! I noticed when you mentioned 'housepricecrash' it actually did sound like one word - pretty certain from then on it was someone from this forum. Yes, I noticed the cut-off - probably a producer in the studio running a finger across his neck at the guy with the fader to finish you asap. Still, even with their agenda exposed, it was still a sharp kick up the **** for hpi. this'll be on listen again later
juvenal
Just announced land reg results for last month as -1.9% are these new? Yes, and they don't include auctions or transferred properties (divorce etc).
29929BlackTuesday
Thanks all! I feel like a conquering hero returning to Rome. Bizarrely my off-message wasn't that 'off' was it? This programme 1 or 2 years ago would have been agreeing on a 'soft landing' or 2% HPI! People I haven't spoken to for ages are texting me saying "Was that you?"! All bears of course. And yes, 'steath bear' is the nickname of the SBS - Special Bear Service.
Solitaire
this'll be on listen again later http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/youandyours/li...n/tuesday.shtml I'm listening to it now
Potwalloper
Bizarrely my off-message wasn't that 'off' was it? I know what you mean - amazingly realistic for a main stream radio program. You might still be off Gordon Brown's and Sibley's Christmas card list now, though.
dances with sheeple
So the Black One communicates directly with the minds of the sheeple via the Magik of radio eh? Sheeps heids will be be spinning up and down the country. I notice the "Sex on the beach in Dubai Guy" made a point of stating in his press conference that six months held there had prevented him selling his house before the worst of the price drops, thus losing him a LOT of money. is he on here as well? juvenal
A bit of a landmark broadcast, this. Total bear, 50% off peak prices - and nobody arguing back. Mass audience, mainstream programme which I am sure will cause ernest (and anguished) discussion in hundreds of thousands of sellers homes tonight.
