Brownfield developer Inland Homes has begun the process of appointing  administrators amid mounting losses.

The AIM-listed housebuilder, which has had four chief executives in the last year, told investors it expects trading in its shares to be cancelled on 4 October as its latest annual accounts will not be published on time.

The firm's shares have been suspended since 3 April after it failed to report results for the year ended 30 September 2022 before the 31 March deadline.

Inland Homes has appointed FRP Advisory as administrators, with the group having been charged with the probe of related party relations and transactions under the previous management team.

The group, which has annual turnover of £181million, had been forecast to make a £91million loss for the year.

Gloucestershire leisure centre sudden closure leads to more than 150 job losses

https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2023-09-29/leisure-centre-sudden-closure-leads-to-more-than-150-job-losses

More than 150 people will lose their jobs as Gloucester’s GL1 Leisure Centre and Oxstalls Sports Park will close today and may not reopen for a year.

Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust, which has been running Gloucester City Council’s leisure services for 15 years, has gone into liquidation.

This means the Bruton Way gym and a swimming pool will be out of action for the foreseeable future along with the tennis courts, outdoor sports pitches and all other Aspire-run facilities at Oxstalls.

The decision has come as a shock to council chiefs who had an agreement in principle for the charity to continue running the services until September 2024.

The world’s largest manufacturer of horse grooming brushes, established in 1786, is staring administration in the face.

The move comes after the company posted an initial (NOI) on September 26.

The company has grown substantially over the last 20 years, with a succession of acquisitions meaning the company has added leisure bags, whips, saddles, bridles and horse rugs to its range through sister companies such as Jeffries Saddlery and Thermatex.

Vale Brother’s latest available accounts, made up to the end of 2021, show the company employed an average of 96 people across the year. At the time, the company had assets of almost £3.6m, while creditors totalled just over £2m.

32 Jobs lost as food and drink engineers, Foodmek Ltd, 'ceases trading' after 52 years

https://news.stv.tv/north/jobs-lost-as-food-and-drink-engineers-foodmek-ceases-trading-after-52-years-in-tayport

A food and drink engineering company that has operated in Fife for more than five decades has ceased trading.

Foodmek Ltd has supplied equipment to some of the biggest names in food manufacturing in the UK and abroad since 1971, including Rowse Honey.

But the Tayport-based firm announced on Tuesday that it had applied to the court to appoint a liquidator.

Foodmek said 32 people’s jobs were affected with insolvency specialist Shona Campbell of Henderson Loggie to be appointed.

It comes after the company experienced a “significant slowdown” in its order pipeline, despite operating profitably during the Covid pandemic by fulfilling contracts for the pharmaceuticals industry.

“We manufacture capital equipment and have been very busy quoting for new contracts, but unfortunately decisions have been deferred or projects cancelled due to economic uncertainty, caused by the war in the Ukraine and spiraling energy costs,” said Foodmek managing director Scot Kelly.

A Hull-based wet cooling specialist has ceased trading and entered administration.

Andrew Mackenzie and Laura Baxter of Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint administrators to Hamon UK Ltd on 29 September 2023.

The company specialises in wet cooling and was founded in 1975.

The business ran into cash flow problems when a contract failed to materialise and financial support was not available. It was unable to trade and all 40 staff were made redundant.

While there is no ongoing business to market, the joint administrators are seeking to conclude an asset sale.

Administrators Appointed to Pendle Engineering

https://www.lancashirebusinessview.co.uk/latest-news-and-features/administrators-appointed-to-pendle-engineering

Quote

Administrators have been appointed at Nelson based Pendle Engineering following increasing financial difficulties.

All 55 staff remain employed and the company continues to trade as the joint administrators explore options for its future, including the possibility of a sale.

Announcing its appointment, FRP Advisory said Pendle Engineering had faced “increasing financial difficulties” due to the impact of rising input costs and supply chain inflation, which had ultimately led to it being called in.

Joint administrator David Willis, restructuring advisory partner at FRP, said: “Our appointment means the business can continue trading as we work through options and consider the prospect of a sale process to protect the future of Pendle Engineering Limited. We encourage any interested parties to come forward.”
