1001 cleans a big, big carpet. For less than half a crown.

I remember that from being small. It was on the television. It was may favourite program. Along with Murray Mints, and Players Number 6.

I can endorse you for religion or 'ways of Pin' if you want?

The Way of Pin is but one of the paths of Wisdom! Unfortunately any sort of wisdom seems to be in short supply. HP OT is quite wise however on matters from plumbing, wiring, trucking to "deluded old scrappers"

I can put a load trading, financial stuff as skills:

Economics, Politics (I read HPC),

Technical analysis (I can see a double top or double bottom)

Quantitative Fund Management (I've read Trend Following)

Asset Management (I read HPC)

Bonds (I read HPC, the Gilts/Bond threads)

Commodity Trading (I have owned some gold miners)

Currencies/Forex (I have some Sterling and Euros)

Fundamental Anayslsis (We demand a HPC, it doesn't happen, but will keep saying "the fundamentals will out")

Finance (I read the City sections of the inlaw's Daily Mail - me buy the Daily Mail? What do you think I am - a boomer?! Only Joking)

IT ( I can use a computer and post on internet forums)

.....in the hope some banker would hire me for a £1m a year job. WILL I GET ANY OFFERS?

I have been made redundant. I will have to get a new job by January.

You are missing an opportunity to be joint CEO and Managing Director of Pin Consulting Ltd. Anyone you went to school with and exes will be very jealous.

I can offer you an unpaid voluntary role as custodian of my V8 engines or if you speak Polish possibly some poorly paid warehouse work. Unlike other forum members, you are unfortunate in not having the lorry driving fall back option.

They can't exactly work out what you can do can they. ^_^ The best recruitment people have had years in the industry they are recruiting for.

Actually, I used to be a VAX/VMS SysAdmin. That's how nerdy I am. I would be happy to be endorsed for that.

Bloody hell, are you like 200 years old or something?

I like Linkedin for the connections in a specialised field, but you have to have a consistent approach to recruitment consultants. Never link to them, always reject, and if they spam you ignore them.

I also get a bit tired of the CVs sent to me which have ******ing spelling errors IN THE EMAIL THEY SEND. If they can't be arsed to get that bit right...

It's good the way people list things on their profile like Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

If I take an employee, on a foreign business trip, it's reassuring to know that if the plane crashes, and we're marooned on a desert island, they'll be able to keep me entertained with tales of minor achievements from their youth.

If only these "recruiters" knew anyone with a job. :(

On Ebay, that's an invitation not to bid, so yes, get the spelling right.:wacko:

I know major telecoms and banks were still on VMS around early 2000s.

Yes that's about all I use it for - specialist professional groups who want a carefully regulated online environment in which to discuss things. Recruitment agents and other peddlers tend to get dealt with quickly and harshly!

Forgot to add - one of my pals is a bit stalkerish on Twitter and Facebook. So he had a look for her. Found her on both. Lots of 'look at me' pics with numerous replies from people 'Oh you are so gorgeous' - 'You look amazing' etc..

Now I appreciate Linkedin is meant to be business and all - but still - she is hardly averse to lapping up the compliments on a daily basis.

I notice a lot of people put their mugshots on LinkedIn. Some are not so beautiful. I don't put my mugshot on.

I remember looking through a newspaper, in Vancouver in the mid nineties, and all the estate agents adverts would be something like 'Peter Michaels Realtor' and every single advert would have half of it devoted to a posed grinning colour photo. At the time I can remember thinking how excruciating it seemed and couldn't imagine anything similar happening over here - how wrong, I was.

It seems slightly crazy to me that anyone working IT would risk publishing information about themselves on LinkedIn. It's just asking to be the target of a telephone or email social engineering attack. Knowing the name of someone who works in a building is often enough to get past whatever notional security a company has at the entrance doors.

Not sure about that. In a small company everyone knows everybody else. In a large company you will have to get a pass from the reception desk, and be expected.

I've driven into military bases and airside, at airports, using the Penguins out of Madagascar's strategy of Smile and Wave.

Never been queried, the many times in the past, I've had to break into shops, often with a hacksaw, when the stupid staff have lost the keys.
