  1. Back in 1999 when my 1 bed private flat rent rose quite a bit because of a new landlord (they came in and immediately put the rent up), I voted with my feet by moving out and going into a flat share. I’m sure others will be doing the same.
  2. 60 years ago, these flats would have been built by the council (and to Parker Home standards) and you would have been housed in any number of them (as they weren't as appealing as council houses for obvious reasons) by the council with little to no waiting list. Now people are paying £600k+ (and associated service charges etc) for poorer quality! That's how MENTAL the past 30 odd years have been (since introduction of shared ownership etc)!!
  3. This statement seems completely at odds with itself (my bold) If they could afford more, then they would be either buying on the open market or purchasing 100% share. It’s nuts!
  4. We printed £450BN over covid. How does that compare with the other G7 countries?
  5. https://archive.ph/4VQfc This is a Daily Express article. You can tell its FED/BoE decision week can't you.
  6. Regarding the FED on Wednesday, I’m afraid it’s 40%/60% (no change/0.25% increase) respectively. 😡. This chart has been bang on the money ever since I’ve been following it. https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html
  7. Indeed. Odds on .25% increase now compared to .50% a few days ago. https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html
  8. Christ on a bike! Estimated Monthly Cost:£2,107 That much a month for what would, 50 years ago, have been the worst you would have got being housed by the council. It’s all broken!
  9. This happens already. They could do with scaling it up to more homes around the UK and not necessarily by the sea. https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/housing-and-land/council-and-social-housing/seaside-country-homes
  10. Wow! Somethings changed!!! Odds on 0.5% increase now full on, compared to 0.25% a few days ago https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html (click ‘compare’ on the side menu to see the jump)
  11. I was thinking along similar lines. Is it really only that one single line breeze block wall holding up the whole of the upstairs/roof? 😲
  12. Our employer is in the last stages of a work location framework trial, the outcome of which might result in 100% remote working for some roles. I have been banging on about this from day one, we really need to be careful what we wish for because if my role falls into this category, I’ll no longer be competing with my peers in London, but all over the UK and most possibly worldwide. Another thing to consider is that for a number of people that rent small flats or rooms, working from home is either unpleasant, not practical or not even an option. Yeah, of course, working from home is really appealing if you own a big house out in the country with space for an office room, but we don’t all fall into that category. I very much support our current work arrangements, which is hybrid working. I like a mixture of interacting with colleagues in the office and the flexibility to work from home when I want to concentrate on a piece of work/project.
  13. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/131663318 Well this is a new one on me. Landlord jacks the rent up depending on how you use the house. They even list it as a 3 bedroom but at the 2 bedroom price which is a bit misleading too.
  14. Try Google Translate link? https://www-latimerhomes-com.translate.goog/new-build-homes/london/alperton/the-waterline?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp
  15. It’s definitely up for me. Also, they ‘boast’ about the rent portion only being 2.75% of market value. With 25% share, that’s still just shy of £1k a month just for the rent, then you’ve got to pay mortgage and service charge. No thanks, I’ll think I’ll pass on that one.
  16. Yep. 25% shared ownership. https://www.latimerhomes.com/new-build-homes/london/alperton/the-waterline
  17. I reckon that’s for a 25% shared ownership. They've just forgot to mention it.
  18. The article is useless. It fails to mention what area of Coventry (I’m from Coventry originally) as there would be a massive difference in price between say Earlsdon and Wood End.
