swissy_fit
Curious to know if I'm the only person irritated by this. To me, it makes them come across as smug and ultimately very stupid. Or am I just bad-tempered today? If anyone who does it answers, perhaps knowing why you do it might help.... Thankyou for that link, I think I'm going to post it on all my replies to people who use that smilie all the time. It uses long words though.... Or am I just bad-tempered today? If anyone who does it answers, perhaps knowing why you do it might help.... I think it's used to express non-specific "here we go again" - not particularly offensive, IMO. I find to be more grating, as favoured by those who think you have an agenda when the sad truth is you're just killing time or yanking their chain. I use and Nothing wrong with emoticons in moderation, it's friendly. MrPin ends every sentence with an explanation mark! That's nutty. RichB
Smileys are like sarcasm. Crutches for the inerudite; for those who cannot be bothered to communicate clearly in a written form and require pictograms to clarify meaning - and for the obtuse, who cannot get by without a cartoon to explain the words.... SHERWICK
too no. winkie was merely pointing out that s/he loves a band called 'you to', which is quite famous round these parts. you may wonder why s/he chose to express this in a reply to your considered post. this was because it's something that s/he has been wanting to declare to the world for some time and finally got round to doing at that particular moment in time. well done winkie!!! bravo!
