Wendy, 44, funded most of the project with SIX credit cards.

She owes the Halifax £9,500, Citicard £5,000, American Express £3,500, Tesco £5,000, M&S £4,500 and Barclaycard £5,000.

Wow, she's a pretty shrewd businesswoman. Cos if I was looking for money to tart up a house, I'd be looking at borrowing it at 20% APR too :lol::lol:

that cartimandua51's going to have your guts for garters, Mr wickywackwoo. ;)

just look what she did to poor A.Steve.

Naah - Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and dyed-in-the-wool misogynists all come into the same category of "only to be argued with if the alternative is cleaning out a blocked toilet" (something else most men come over all faint if faced with!)

I agree.

If you show kids endless adverts for 'cheesy-twizzlers', they will want them. That's why they stick the adverts on.

Same for the property porn deluge.

If anyone ever attempts to refute your view, two words : Notting Hill

"I thought, I'll buy another property, give it a lick of paint and scam some sucker out of £30k more than I paid for it. Trouble is, it seems houses don't always go up in value after all. Is it illegal to go on the game?"

Oh dear. I do actually feel quite sorry for her to be honest. How many others have been sucked into this "Homes under the hammer" mentality?

How could she get it so wrong? SIX credit cards?!?

Tip of the iceberg.....house prices DON'T always go up you know...!

Guest happy?
That sucks.....there was a time when credit card debt was unsecured. Now it seems that AMEX will stat demand you if you have any assets at all.

AMEX have only in recent years issued credit cards - previously they issued only charge cards (a very different beast) and in my experience they have always used charging orders rather than bugger around with enforcement warrants.

I bake my own bread so it's biccies or bust.. ;)

I prefer cakey. A nice girly who makes cakes. Yum!

Not that I can't appreciate a girl who makes biscuits. It wouldn't do for us all to like the same things.

As some say:

beauty is in the pie of the tea-holder

I'm going to get rich by becoming a sob story developer. I take a tale like this one, tart it up a bit, and sell it to the newspapers. ;)

Demand for sorrow outstrips supply, there's never been a better time to cry, etc.

Reminds me of Bill Hicks on Marketing

"Oooo, the anger dollar. Huge. Huge in times of recession. Giant market. Bill's very bright to do that."

"He's going for the righteous indignation dollar. A lot of people are feeling that indignation. We've done research. Huge market. He's doing a great thing."

"The trapped dollar. Big dollar. Huge dollar. Good market. Look at our research. We see that many people feel trapped. We play to that and seperate them into the tarpped dollar ... "

 - check out the link - it's only 02:42 long.

MY pledge to the British people — to homeowners, to businesses, to households everywhere — is that I will do nothing that puts the stability of the economy at risk
.

You've done enough Mr Brown ;)

People in their 30s and above can remember the early 90s, when the problems around the world hit Britain hardest and plunged us into a recession

yes I can..I'd just moved in and i ended up living on £20 a week for food and travel to work..it was rough and thought it would never end. i think it will be worse this time around. and there is nothing Brown can do to stop it.

He was being extremely frank, but the press have just mis-punctuauted him:

MY pledge to the British people — to homeowners, to businesses, to households everywhere — is that I will do nothing . That puts the stability of the economy at risk

See?

Cleaning the toilet? Do they need cleaning then? I never noticed but now you mention it

If you're really lucky you should be able to find a nice girly with big bazookas that can make both.

My trigger was the word 'Kondratieff' in a joke on the web. It went from there.

How interesting. I'd never given that word much thought thinking it was yet another of these one time techniques that couldn't work the minute you could read about it in a book. I finally managed to read more about it this w/e and found it to be most interesting. Would you say it is worthy of study, or was it just a trigger for something else?

I don't like big bazookas. I was rather hoping for a nice girlie who made the cakey rather than ate it. Will that be a problem? :P

I am not sure of the advice to move your money to another bank you do not owe money to! There is a thing called a third party debt order which is easily accessible by any judgment creditor...

It also smacks of not acting in good faith, something guaranteed to wind up a nervous bank manager...

If by 'recent years', you mean 'since at least the early 90s' (I forget exactly when I first got my Amex credit card, but it was sometime back then).
