Interesting timing thats for sure, a couple days after polls showed a six point leave lead.

This affects the voters who have swung most the past fortnight, labour voters. They do not want to be associated with the far right.

Gotta be worth a 10% swing, without pro brexit news or a pro brecit shock over the next few days it is again hard for them to win now.

I would say it will be to breixt advantage if remain try using this as a points scoring exercise ....it would be seen as the low of the low IMO they are trying hard to scrub the fearmongering tag from their campaign to use this would signal the end for them

There were a few remain figures (mainly leftie Labour MPs) that jumped on it in a finger pointing way via twitter those tweets have all been deleted ,the MSM may do the damage though

Yes it is all over now for BREXIT. The damage is done and seed is sown.

The pound is rallying strongly and project fear can just say nothing now and the job is done. It all just seems too scripted. Im not a tin foil hatter and never will be, 9/11 was not an inside job but something about this is feels like plan C. Almost a couple of hours after Farage releases a controversial billboard a right wing nut kills a seemingly wonderful human with positive ideals and everything to live for. Why her? Any real right wing racist would have kept himself locked away until after the vote. Truly deranged.

Crikey 22nd of June- Guaranteed to to plastered on the front pages a day before we go to the polls. Poor woman.

They have simply pushed all Brexit voters into mindset where they would have to be extremists, conspiracy theorists and haters to continue to support them. This is where Johnson and co had successfully steered the debate away from in recent weeks on issues such as accountability, democracy and quality of life.

For goodness sake this changes absolutely nothing.

a) Who hadn't realised that Brexit is populated by hard right loons by now ?

b ) IRRESPECTIVE of the idiotic irresponsible, xenophobic stoking this is OBVIOUSLY nothing to do with (a) nor any serious Brexit argument - this is a bona fide certifiable one off lunatic.

In way more interesting/relevant referendum news Simon Jenkins has suddenly switched to Bremain.

Did you see the end of ITV news? It may as well have been a remain campaign video. This is over. :(

Did anyone actually see the nutter kill her? As I read it, people saw a man with a hat on. Then he left. Then the police arrested a guy a few streets away.

This is too perfect not to be a consipracy. Her birthday is 22nd of June ffs. Now we get to watch tributes all day before the vote.

TPTB clearly didnt like it. Said to my mates last week. I expect an event to prop up next week. I thought it was going to be market manipulation.

I know where you are coming from but do you honestly think the remainers who couldn't get their act together to sell THE GREAT EU to the UK, but they managed to stage a birth 40 odd years ago, election of a person and killing 1 week before an EU vote?

edit for clarification.

Project fear has worked and has pushed this 'man' over the edge. Maybe that was the plan?

Surely its easier to whack a single person than convince 60m people to do something they dont want to?

It`s a sad day but this was a mentally ill guy that just lost the plot for whatever reason ,if any side try to use this for political gain they will do so to their own detriment,i can see a lot of the tabloids getting some stick over their reporting

Bbc main story of course. A full 10 minutes before they move onto the next story.

Not a single mention this bloke had a history of mental issues (confirmed by his relatives yesterday)

******ing disgraceful.

Here we have it - 15 minutes in.

And why was it finally mentioned ? Newspaper front page review and this was on the Mail front page that he was a 'crazed loner' with a history of mental illness.

Bias beyond belief.

Any attempt to bring this up before Friday will be seen as utterly distasteful and counterproductive. Both sides should merely comment on this as a human tragedy and move on to the issues. There will be attempts to analyse this in a more meaningful way in the press but unfortunately the question How could this have been avoided? cannot be answered. The reason is complex and way beyond the simple narrative that most will fall back on which is a hate crime caused by a racist.

Ladbrokes odds on brexit which had gone up to 7-4 now slightly shortened to 13-8.

Bloke gets interviewed, assessed by medical bod, then moved to 'secure medical location'.

Suddenly all the left wing rabid this blokes a far right racist killer maniacs all over social media and the media in general go 'ah' and the general public realise the nature of this murder.

Suddenly this event isn't going to have anywhere near the impact on the brexit vote that was originally thought.

Just a hunch.

Good morning Britain on main news headlines just stated when showing bloke in question that he had history of mental issues.

They didn't state this earlier. And the bbc didn't at all. I will check on bbc at 7.30 and see if the bbc add this detail.

This is pretty interesting to watch to be honest. Simple words that are said or not said can make such a difference and politicians and the media know it.

Polly's not hanging about. She starts by making a good point about the degree of personal hate directed at MPs. But then she goes and blames it all on the Leave side.

Because, as we know, the left and the Remain side have never stooped to personal attacks or sought to whip up hatred against people they disagree with.

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jun/16/mood-ugly-mp-dead-jo-cox

"This attack on a public official cannot be viewed in isolation. It occurs against a backdrop of an ugly public mood in which we have been told to despise the political class, to distrust those who serve, to dehumanise those with whom we do not readily identify.

There are many decent people involved in the campaign to secure Britain’s withdrawal from the EU, many who respect the referendum as the exercise in democracy that it is. But there are others whose recklessness has been open and shocking. I believe they bear responsibility, not for the attack itself, but for the current mood: for the inflammatory language, for the finger-jabbing, the dogwhistling and the overt racism.
