I cite any number of sources - from the Guardian, through to the BBC, through to RT or Zerohedge. Spain wants in on Russia's high-speed railway project The ambitious Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway project has attracted interest from Madrid, according to the Russian Ministry of Transport. The track is a joint project between Russia and China. The new 770 kilometers of track between Moscow and Russia’s Tatarstan capital Kazan will stretch through seven regions of Russia. It will have 15 stops, including Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, and Cheboksary. The journey from Moscow to Kazan currently takes 12 hours, but will now be reduced to just 3.5 hours. The new link is part of a network of high-speed lines planned for the football World Cup, which Russia is hosting this year. Beijing has expressed interest in funding the project, saying it will provide $6 billion. China considers the project not only as an investment, but also as a way of boosting communication and trade with Russia and Europe. https://www.rt.com/business/421563-russia-high-speed-railway/

The entirety of the Russian regime summed up. Putin is not charismatic enough to step into the shoes of Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin or Hitler. We would be in trouble if he believed in more than just himself - a God-sent limitation. Plus as my Muscovite friends tell me, there is no chance of any good private business innovation coming from Russia as the only business that survives is the protection racket. Gangster land. China on the other hand knows how to make and sell things. It knows how to make money without a gun. There are upsides.

Rather misses the point of inter-bank transfer. 'The World' is a much bigger place than the Western World - the more the West uses the established economic system as a weapon of war against those not in its club or close circle of chums, the more the rest of the World will develop its own solutions that don't rely on predominantly Western-based institutions. Something like this system could easily gain traction in the non-Western World leaving us in worse position than before.
