Russia Nears Completion Of Second "Holy Grail" Gas Deal With China

Today, with little fanfare, Russia's president Putin - whose economy is said to be reeling as a result of a plunging currency, paradoxically something Japan would love to be able to achieve on such short notice - told the media ahead of his visit to the Asia Pacific Economic Conference on November 9-11, that Moscow and Beijing have agreed many of the aspects of a second gas pipeline to China, the so-called western route, or as some already are calling it, the "second holy grail."

“We have reached an understanding in principle concerning the opening of the western route,” Putin said. "We have already agreed on many technical and commercial aspects of this project laying a good basis for reaching final arrangements,” the Russian President added.

As RT reports, the opening of the western route, the Altai, would link Western China and Russia and supply an additional 30 bcm of gas, nearly doubling the gas deal reached in May.

Once the Altai route is completed, China will become Russia’s biggest gas customer, able to receive up to 68 bcm of gas annually, surpassing the 40 bcm Russia supplies Germany each year.

Putin Signs Secret Pact To Crush NATO

Putin is taking a leadership role in the creation of an international alliance among four of the ten most populous countries on the planet—its combined population constitutes over 40% of the world’s total, just short of 3 billion people. It encompasses the two fastest-growing global economies. Adding Iran means its members would control over half of all natural gas reserves. Development of Asian pipeline networks would boost the nations of the region economically and tie them more closely together.

If Putin has his way, the SCO could not only rival NATO, it could fashion a new financial structure that directly competes with the IMF and World Bank. The New Development Bank (FKA the BRICS Bank), created this past summer in Brazil, was a first step in that direction. And that could lead to the dethroning of the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency, with dire consequences for the American economy.

The continuing attacks on Vladimir Putin and Russia by members of the western political, military and journalistic elite tell us one thing – the Russian President is doing a good job both for the people of his country and in the international arena.

For it is a rule which invariably holds true – if the Western elites praise the leader of a foreign country it means he is doing something which is good for those elites and bad for his country. If he’s demonized, as Putin is, it’s the other way round.

The neocon plan is for the Russian economy to be weakened by sanctions, which they hope will lead to a reduction in support for Putin and make it easier for them to destabilize the country and bring about a ‘regime change’ in Moscow. They want a compliant stooge in the Kremlin who will surrender all of Russia’s natural resources, and allow them to get rid of President Assad and the Baathists in Syria – an essential prerequisite before any attack on Iran.

Zeroedge and RT.

Youd expect Putins propagandists to come out in force when the Rouble falls off a cliff.

Its amusing that Zh (is usually banging on about collapsing currencies. But not when its Russia. Odd that.

he cant even prevent his own currency hyperinflating.

Hmmm. Why does china need all that power ?

They've got a lot more concrete to pour.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China approved more than $100 billion (63 billion pounds) worth of infrastructure projects in late October and early November, state media said on Saturday, in a bid to bolster slowing growth in the world's second largest economy.
China's top economic planning body, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), approved 21 infrastructure investment projects between Oct. 16 and Nov. 5 with a total investment value of 693.3 billion yuan ($113.24 billion), the official Xinhua news agency said on Saturday, citing state radio.
The projects included 16 railways and five airports, with the aim of propping up a decline in real estate investment, Xinhua said.
Annual growth slowed to 7.3 percent in the third quarter - the weakest since the height of the global financial crisis - as a cooling property sector weighed on domestic demand.
Annual growth in China's exports and imports also slowed in October, data showed on Saturday, reinforcing signs of fragility that could prompt policymakers to roll out more stimulus measures.

Putin, Xi Jinping sign second mega gas deal on new gas supply route

President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping have signed a memorandum of understanding on the so-called “western” gas supplies route to China. The agreement paves the way for a contract that would make China the biggest consumer of Russian gas.

This thread appears to be about the rise of China and yet the title talks about Russia. Is there a mistake somewhere?

The unintended consequences of the policy of destroying Russia.

Let's ignore for now this silly RT Kremlin Putler propaganda (Putin is the strongest, Russia is the strongest, Putin is the Russia, no Putin -> no Russia, bla bla bla bla ... bla bla) and let's listen to a true hero of Russia. The one who saved millions of Slavs from the Soviet slavery:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14580709

Mikhail Gorbachev has accused Vladimir Putin of "castrating" Russia's electoral system and said he should not seek re-election as president. The ex-Soviet leader was interviewed by the BBC's Bridget Kendall on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the failed coup which led to the collapse of the USSR. The action was aimed at reversing reforms overseen by Mr Gorbachev. Mr Putin, the current prime minister, radically changed the voting system during his two terms as president.

Central and Eastern Europe celebrates this great Russian every day and pray God for EU and NATO. No more Soviet/Russian slavery!

It also looks like that Putin is not able to control his own army. The Russia must be in quite a mess these days. You would be shot immediately for disobeying orders ...

East Ukrainian pro-Russian separatist leader Alexander Zakharchenko said 3-4,000 serving Russian soldiers, on leave from their posts, are fighting Ukrainian troops alongside the rebels, Russian state television reported.

I believe Putin can and does control them. He just uses tactics and bluff to explain that his army hasn`t been instructed directly to cross the border into Ukraine. It can be explained that they are in effect mercenaries, because they are fighting while on leave, although I don`t really think he can explain where all that ordnance has come from if not the Russian army.

Indeed. It takes about 60 seconds to get arrested in Moscow with an Ukrainian flag. It is unthinkable that the Russian conscripts are there on their own will. With their heavy equipment. Plus it is illegal for them to break any orders; even when on vacations. The vacations do not make any difference from their service point of view legal duties and responsibilities. It is much stricter than in the West.

Plus other issue is ammo and fuel. You need tons of ammo and fuel every day for 10k of fighters. It is physically not possible for the pro Russians mercs in Ukraine to manufacture it there. They would be out of ammo in 2 weeks max if it is not supplied by Putin ...

Russia Signs Deal With Iran To Build 8 Nuclear Power Units

report moments ago that Russia inked a deal to build eight nuclear power units in Iran

The head of Rosatom, Sergey Kirienko, and the chief of the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, signed a series of documents, promoting the links in the field of peaceful application of atomic energy between the countries, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the agreement, Russia is to construct eight pressurized water reactors “turn-key ready” in Iran. Four of them will be built at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, also completed by Russia a year ago. Besides, nuclear fuel for the future reactors will be provided by Russia during the whole life cycle of the new reactors. Spent fuel will be returned for processing and storage.

- You in Sweden need not fear. Latvia and Estonia, however, reason to feared. If there is a big war, it is possible that there will not be anything left of these countries, says Markov SVT Correspondents.

Just sounds like a statement of the obvious/fact. If NATO causes a war with Russia, the frontline countries would obviously be totally destroyed.

China to push strategic partnership with Russia: Foreign Ministry

A day after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state of the nation address, China said it will pursue closer ties with Moscow.

“China is determined to keep building up the strategic partnership with Russia,” said a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Friday in Beijing. “We respect the road taken by the Russian nation, including its domestic and foreign policies. We watched the Russian president’s statement with great interest. The level of trust and cooperation between our countries is very high,” Hua Chunying was quoted by Russian agency Tass.

Putler, the Greatest Strategist ever. Perhaps letting a single man with exKGB mind to make all strategic decisions does not work well long term ???

http://www.telegraph...sion-looms.html

Russian government borrowing costs have soared to their highest levels in five years, as the country faces recession. Measured by the yields on the state’s 10-year bonds, the cost of borrowing breached the 12pc level on Friday, as falling oil prices and economic sanctions have taken their toll on the economy. The spike will increase the burden of servicing government borrowing, as lower oil prices have made it unlikely that Vladimir Putin, the country’s President, will be able to balance the books. Anton Siluanov, Russia's economic minister, said last week that the combined cost of sanctions and weakening oil was costing Russia $140bn (£90bn) a year. The government has also admitted that a recession in early 2015 is likely.
