Shite I just remembered I did dabble in some coins 2017 selling, converting, staking etc, but didn’t amount to anything much. I cut my losses and put the small amount into BTC that I’ve held ever since (Approx 6K GBP invested…down to 1K bear market then reinvested) Should I backdate this on future tax return 2023 ?

You only need to declare capital gains when selling right ? read that you only pay max 20% max capital gain for any coins held over 1 year. in my case been stacking since last crash and hope to cash out 2022 Do I need to do anything tax wise this returns period ? Is everyone filing their own returns ? Using jointly data etc to help I’ve already done tax returns in the past for small business venture I tried years ago, was thinking of looking up crypto accountant etc, but will complete myself if it’s just the same as a tax return and not too complicated.

Hi yes it’s portable maybe I could transfer it to house instead. Your right maybe I shouldn’t jump out of my position so quickly. I’ve got a few ALT positions that will hopefully let me keep more BTC as a long term HODL. I just want a good chunk of mortgage gone.

Haven’t cashed out yet. We need a bigger house due to kids, was thinking of either paying off mortgage of flat with a fine (10K ish) as we just fixed for 5 years. (Silly of me really should have waited) or using that money as deposit to buy the house & keep the flat to rent. will prob have to pay to change the mortgage to rent to buy. what would you do in my shoes ?

Same here, need to sell our flat for a house. I’m not selling for peanuts to rent whilst the gap is so massive. Could eat a big chunk of my equity I decided I’d rather keep saving money & wait for the cost gap to narrow, which will come eventually as most of the competing 1st time buyers / those out of our area will be priced out due to the end of the stamp duty holiday.

One of biggest regrets…thinking anything bubbly / bubble was instantly a bad thing… lived on this forum from 2004-11 heard of bitcoin then, saw this thread but assumed it was a bubbly gamble etc.. I then took a break from the forum after buying a house lol did dabble in dogecoin 2014 wish I chose bitcoin instead

Yep in my situation the demand for bigger houses has priced us out… so I m not selling to rent when prices will stabilise eventually.

Happened at my place.. new girl had a reputation as a slag & kept some guys at work entertained. work suffered I couldn’t have asked for a better setup.. they all helped me work insane hours clocking up O/T that helped me get on the ladder ! Best thing that ever happened lol

Maybe you don’t match the sellers criteria...Sometimes the seller may only want to accept offers from cash buyers only... or those with accept offers on their property

anyone had an issues with withdrawing funds to HSBC account. Keep seeing headlines about it & then threatening to close accounts associated with it. thinking about opening a crypto friendly bank account. Any thoughts ?
