House prices here just do not drop becuase it is such a sort after area

Interesting logic at work here. On one hand he's worried sick that the potential sale value of his new flat is going to fall, and on the other he's convinced that prices won't fall in his area. Does not compute. Fzzzzzt... ding!

£99,950* FOR A 2 BEDROOM APARTMENT-NOW YOU CAN AFFORD YOUR FIRST HOME!

You Pay just 75%. We'll take care of the rest

They gain 25% in your home price drops, by 20K = 80k

you lose 20k plus another 20k = total lose of 20K - 80k= 60k y0u get back total loss 40K 40% lose, hum great deal. no matter what they'll make money.

Buy your own home right now, but pay just 75% of the price

No rent or interest on the remaining balance

Simply return 25% of the market value of the property when you sell, or within 10 years whichever is first.

You will own 100% of the property throughout.

Anyone can apply – you don’t have to be a first time buyer

i think what you are saying is this

You get mortgage of 75K and they have25% equity.

House price drops 20% to 80K means you now owe them 20K amd mortgage co 75K =95K debt,

[/b]

2 Bedroom apartment, with a parking space.

Price £133,250. at 75% you pay only £99,950

is £133,250 25% off equal too £99950 the price drops too ( or 99950) 100k to keep it simple for this time of night.

You lose 25K form original price and another 25K because they own 25%, total loss 50K.

They only lose 8K (33k -25K) but they can deduct that from tax.

They value it at that price but its market price may be lower. bah its late.

Dyslexia linked to increased psychological

impairment in prisoners

Dyslexia occurs at a high rate among criminals, and a new Swedish study suggests that dyslexic prison inmates are more impaired behaviorally than other inmates.

J. Jensen and colleagues studied 63 prison inmates between the ages of 19 and 57. They found that 26, or 41 percent, were dyslexic.

"As expected, the dyslexic group performed more poorly on verbal tests as compared to the normal readers among the prison inmates," the researchers say, "but they also performed more poorly on tests measuring nonverbal abilities." In addition, they say, prisoners with dyslexia had higher rates of paranoid and avoidant personality disorders, exhibited higher levels of anxiety and suspicion, and evidenced "a lower degree of socialization."

While the rate of dyslexia among Jensen et al.'s sample of prisoners seems high, other recent studies have revealed even higher rates. A 1998 study in Britain found that more than half of 150 prison inmates showed signs of dyslexia, and a 1995 study in Pu uerto Rico identified 78% of a group of juvenile delinquents as dyslexic.

Not knowing when to use 'sort' or 'sought' has got nothing to do with being dyslexic....

Barnstaple has been earmarked to become another university city in <5 years time and the new bridge has eased congestion from the town so that will help the area as well in the short term.

Ye gods! Barnstaple a university town? Nice as the place, it's not that big and we need fewer universities not more. Having more universities is like having more TV channels. There's more competition and the quality is cheapened.

Besides which, even if it has been ear-marked to be given a university I am not sure that it ever will. There's been talk for years of Inverness been given it's own university.

Not knowing when to use 'sort' or 'sought' has got nothing to do with being dyslexic. I bet a dyslexic German wouldn't make that kind of mistake.

So true. It really annoys me that people claim they're dyslexic whereas in fact they just couldn't be arsed to read anything. When I was a lad I read books and newspapers and played games that usually had extremely complex rules to master before being able to play. Apart from the odd typo I can spell pretty well. If you read a lot then you absorb the knowledge of how to spell automatically.

Kids today don't read much, watch far too much TV and spend large amounts of time on the Xbox etc. Combine this with idiotic teaching of reading in our primary schools and no wonder most people under 30 are functionally illiterate.

Mixing 'sort' with 'sought' is not dyslexia, just evidence of a poor grasp of the use of English. It's the same sort of mistake as saying 'could of, should of, would of' etc. which is incredibly common on internet forums these days.

I don't know about everyone else but I tend to judge the intelligence and knowledgeability of contributors to a forum by the standard of their writing. HPC is definitely one of the better forums on this front.

Everyone makes typos of course and the odd slip but judging by the overall standard of their writing, the contributors here seem to be more intelligent and articulate than those on the average forum. Displaying a good standard of writing certainly adds weight to an opinion.
