dgul
Looks like we're having one of those "notifications of inadequate system margin" - it is so bad that we're had to buy electricity from Ireland. Things are clearly very bad - with this very mild November and all. Apparently it is to do with an unexpected amount of lights being used by people... I've done my bit and bought an LED bulb and a candle. They've been had before, but usually in Jan/Feb - when there is also heating demand, etc. Story here if the Google servers go down: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34723259 Eds to add - looks like they've asked industry to use less power, but they've just found out that the last industry in Britain closed down recently, so there's nothing can be done.. happy_renting
I don't see what you are complaining about. Ireland makes splendid electricity. Free from lumps and fluff, it flows along wires and cables magnificently. Well done, you plucky little Paddies!
MrPin
What about oil amps to go with the guitars? I actually do have some paraffin oil lamps. Very handy when the electricity went off, when I lived in Scotlands armpit!

justthisbloke
That explains why my DRAX shares went up today. Not up enough to compensate for the months and months of down, though. But the divi pays 'leccy bills so I can't complain.

Supermarkets are now "industry" Asda pay about 35p a unit between 5-7pm. They're starting to invest in solar and batteries so they can offgrid at those times. happy_renting
I am the monkey! The accordian player is my puppet! Reminds me of my late Dad, bless his soul. We were on holiday on the Costa Brava and walked past a restaurant with a chicken roasting on a spit. My Dad turned to the owner and said "your barrel organ's broken and your monkey's on fire".
