Bashing The Scroungers

This is a bit of an econophilosophical point, but ....

There are lots of people on here who are willing to give benefit scroungers a good verbal bashing. Possibly rightly so. But hardly anyone ever suggests anything which will actually cure the problem.

Kicking people off the dole or long term sick won't create any jobs. What are these people going to do for a living if you remove their benefits?

Take a stroll over to a certain UK computer forum and you'll see it is much worse than here.

As for removing benefits... maybe they should go ahead, a portion will become homeless and then the true extent of the problems will be revealed. At least there won't be a cop-out excuse for the council and charities this time...

this is the problem. the system is the wrong way round.

same as young teen mums getting houses and life paid for because they have a kid.

they wouldnt have a kid if a house and the benifits wern't available.

*obviously there are exceptions before someone comes on here and says blah blah blah im a single teen mum etc*

I think the key to that will be in understanding where jobs come from. If we have people actually in need of an income, and things that people with money want done, the jobs miraculously blossom.

Not saying I know how to facilitate this, but if someone with money (or some other transferable wealth) is willing to pay for something to be done, jobs exist.

Ok, now the serious answer please? :P

Given that there are 1 million people in temporary housing, eg B&B type places or hostels, and that their rent\living costs are either partially or fully covered by benefits... thats quite a large underclass emerging onto the streets.

Which forum?

Unfortunately they're too nazi to let you register with a hotmail\yahoo\etc email account so you'll need something like a work email in order to use the search function.

I know that this social engineering project has been very well thought out, so...

Cutting the dole off would create a huge crime wave, which would force the state to create many more police positions, enforcement regimes, bureaucracy and prisons.

Putting a couple of packs of fags, cheap cider, and drugs in the hands of the majority scroungers is a heck of a lot cheaper than the aforementioned.

It sucks, but the maths make sense. In previous ages, the state would just round up this rabble and send them off as front line soldiers and cannon fodder. We are stuck with them in our age unfortunately.

You be careful. A single mum will accuse you of being a supporter of men battering women.

Speaking as a single mother....

It is simple. Don't give money, give vouchers for speciifc things (clothes, food) that can only be used with photo id.

This will cost more to administer short term but it will mean that a life on benefits becomes a lot less attractive.

No booze, no fags, no drugs, no mobile phone, no downloads, no nightclubs.

Still fancy it?

So when they decide that a life on the dole isn't great, what are they going to do for a living?

Sadly a black market will develop within hours, I know women who used to sell the kids baby milk for fags. The other option open to them is robbery, prositution and lots of other anti social behaviours. We need to change the thinking behind not working and that's nearly impossible when many of our jobs are going to the far east.

As a single mum, never married, never claimed a penny apart from child allowance...have never claimed a penny in benefits, and when I required some help from the council for childminding 10 years ago was told to give up my job and claim benefits....says it all IMO....needless to say I am thankful I declined to follow their advise.

Can I just make a point that those of us being branded 'scrounger bashers' are talking about the abuse of the system and not the use of the system.

Critical difference.

Turn to crime which is the fastest, most direct and longest established means of redistributing wealth.

Fact is the people who will be hit will not be burly young dole scroungers and their molls but the weak, the sick and the elderly. The British state is a coward at heart and always picks on those least likely to fight back.
