I'm of that era, so although I am no great fan his music has been in my life for a long time. I thought he was sadly, very sadly, ridiculed and messed up but was always happy to hear his music
pooh
Of course Bad One Day In your Life. As well as all those records already mentioned, and like a lot of others, his music was part of my life when I was growing up.

Johnny Storm
I think he had two good songs, smooth criminal (above) and scream http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxkVaYlrfh8 I always thought Janet had more worthwhile things to say tbh (Upto the point where she got obsessed with sex but even then she did it well )
RentingForever
Good obit in the Times today - basically saying his life split into three phases: the early Motown years, the pop years, and the final decade or so of increasing weirdness. Best to remember the first two phases. I'm currently listening to "The Motown Years" - ie all the early stuff with and without the Jackson 5. Some excellent stuff here, easily as good as Thriller/Bad etc. Best of the early stuff: ABC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYx3BR2aJA4 I Want You Back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DYgf_Cl59o Rockin' Robin: Never Can Say Goodbye: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GveM_95x56k One Day In Your Life: Can You Feel It?
