Housing benefit freeze a ‘travesty’, landlords wail
cbathpc replied to fellow's topic in House prices and the economy
Given the price of housing seems to be going down, should housing benefit not also go down? Freezing not enough imo. Sorry landlords. -
Witness the end of "Wokeness"

Disney needs mass appeal, yet they seem to making things that they know will be controversial. Why make the little mermaid black, or snow white hispanic? You know this will ruffle feathers and turn people off. Likewise at the parks having princesses with beards. I suspect most people don't care what others do in private, however, who wants to explain to a 5 year old why their favourite princess is now a man with a beard? -
Telegraph calling for boomer stamp duty cut.

Whenever I speak to anyone about downsizing, they all want the impossible. They want to stay in the same area, but have a 2 bed detached house with a nice big garden. These properties just don't exist. Very few are going to be happy with moving from a detached to a terrace -
It's possible to disagree with a tax, even if you yourself will not be subjected to it. Labour could announce a tax rate of 100% on any money earned over £200k per year. It wouldn't effect me, but I also wouldn't agree with it. Inherited money should have been taxed already. For me the tax system needs simplifying, not more hands reaching in whenever they can

My neighbour has just got a Hyundia Kona hybrid through the scheme.. she looked embarrassed to say she got it through motobility, I suspect most of the recipients know its too good of a deal. I'm surprised it's never really in the news, seems like a tremendous waste of money

Government To Force The Sick Back To Work
cbathpc replied to FANG's topic in House prices and the economy
Given budget deficits, what other answer is there? Can we really continue with 1/5 of working age people just not working? -
Birmingham City Council .................BUST!

It seems truly insane that a court can decide that two different jobs should be paid equally. There must be more to it -
Government To Force The Sick Back To Work
cbathpc replied to FANG's topic in House prices and the economy
We have far more 'sick' than the rest of Europe. As we're seeing with the migrants in hotels, our own compassion is killing us. How will an anxious person ever get better if they don't work? -
It is a disgrace. They've definitely known about this longer than last Friday and mitigations beyond 'just do it on zoom' could be put in place. The gov now has to be measured by the standard of what they're doing with migrants. If they can afford to put them in 4 star hotels, and luxury student accommodation, then they definitely can afford alternate venues for children's school The tories are absolutely doomed. Surely even the boomers can see past all the electoral bribes at this point. Grandkids with no schooling, their own children unable to afford housing.

WFH is not going to work
cbathpc replied to The Angry Capitalist's topic in House prices and the economy
How many employers are happy with output measured like that? If you can do the work in 4 hours of an 8 hour day, I'm sure your employer will be more than happy to double your workload. And if your employer doesn't, another will.. which kills your employer -
It's becase they're up everywhere, under Truss it was just us.

I'm not sure changing the fall guy will do much good at this point. Problem is none of them want to stand up and say we're ******ed

I’ve got a £50k deposit but can’t afford a house!
cbathpc replied to Armus's topic in House prices and the economy
Website testing isn't necessarily low paid, it can be a fairly lucrative job, especially if you're a woman (or present as one as this person appears to be doing). Testers can earn 90% of what engineers can.. I always though it was a great little role, a lot less stress and responsibility, near identical pay. Just a lower ceiling, very hard to progress past senior. -
Head over to the remote working thread, and everyone is far more efficient working from home 🤔 In all seriousness, why would you work. The benefit system is that ******ed up, working full time at minimum or a low wage seems hardly worth the effort.. better getting an illness and putting your feet up

Another White Elephant (green one in fact)
cbathpc replied to Maghull Mike's topic in House prices and the economy
But it makes no difference to the user. They don't have a choice now. If the change was made and they were never told, they would never know beyond the colour of the flame being a bit different -

I watched a slot on the news about this last night, and not one resident had a remotely sensible argument. It was all the usual tripe "it'll confuse old people", "People with disabilities won't like it" I didn't hear one sane reason. We have a country full of whiners with nothing else to do.
