  1. There is a two bedroomed mid terrace house on my road that has been on the market since April 2007. The original Price £250,000. and the price now £250,000 I have rung the agents a few times (over the years!) saying I was thinking of selling etc. and was wondering had they any offers? Same reply everytime: yes we have some very good offers but the seller doesn't want to accept them. So I don't think its the EAs that are not accepting the market has come to a halt. This is the one: (nethouseprices) 5 Archer Terrace, Penarth, The Vale Of Glamorgan, CF64 3DU £96,000 Terraced Freehold Not New Build 25-Aug-2000 Map (CF64 3DU) 5 Archer Terrace, Penarth, The Vale Of Glamorgan, CF64 3DU £206,250 Terraced Freehold Not New Build 12-Jan-2005 Map (CF64 3DU) I suspect they can see what a dash of paint can achieve on an exact same property a couple of doors down (50K in three months) 8 Archer Terrace, Penarth, The Vale Of Glamorgan, CF64 3DU £199,000 Terraced Freehold Not New Build 07-Aug-2006 Map (CF64 3DU) 8 Archer Terrace, Penarth, The Vale Of Glamorgan, CF64 3DU £245,000 Terraced Freehold Not New Build 24-Nov-2006 Map (CF64 3DU) They need to get real on the price front.
  2. Mr. Mortgage does he appear in the Simpsons?
  3. The other way round, the highest bidder was genuine and when he pulled out that left the owner bidding for his own property! No wonder he left the room. Auctioneers usually takes bids 'off the walls' but in a small room people might see through this.
  4. A few years ago I e-mailed Adam Heart Davis and suggested the title of his next series: What the Nazis did for us. Petrochemicals/ballistics/rockets. his agent e-mailed back saying Adam didn't find the suggestion funny.
  5. Wednesday's Unemployment rate will be interesting. Currently 5.3% I suspect a few tenths of a % rise. Not the Nine o'Clock News: Government Unemployement Statement
  6. Do you have a start time for this run? Memo from Barclays CFO; Under no circumstance are we to sponsor any more Runs, people will get the wrong idea!
  7. Haven't the Slovak Krone been pegged to the Euro from July 1st (to join 1st Jan 2009) What's happened to convergence?
  8. there are a few like this: This will be the next big blow up when the sheeple realise that they have been conned into worthless degrees and huge debts. The cake is only so big!
  9. Speaking to a friend yesterday who is involved in the conveyancing for ex-council houses (eg right to buy) he says the they haven't had one go through in the last two months. They normally run at about 10 a week. (Large South Wales Council) It started with applications going in and then being withdrawn because of the mortgage had fallen through, but now even the applications have stopped! Is there is no money being lent anymore?
  10. Under Milk Wood. Cardiff Bay Dylan Thomas Less than five hundred souls inhabit the three quaint streets Tower Blocks and the few narrow by-lanes and scattered farmsteads BTLs that constitute this small, decaying watering-place which may, indeed, be called a 'backwater of life' 'Wales' without disrespect to its natives who possess, to this day, a salty individuality Huge Debt of their own. The main street, Coronation Street, consists, for the most part, of humble, two-storied roomed houses Flats many of which attempt to achieve some measure of gaiety by prinking themselves out in crude colours and by the liberal use of pinkwash stuco plaster, though there are remaining a few eighteenth-century nineteenth -century houses of more pretension, if, on the whole, in a sad state of disrepair. Though there is little to attract the hillclimber Estate Agent the healthseeker First time buyer, the sportsman Buy to let Landlord, or the weekending motorist speculator, the contemplative may, if sufficiently attracted to spare it some leisurely hours, find, in its cobbled streets and its little fishing harbour half built Apartments, in its several curious customs, and in the conversation of its local 'charactersEstate Agents,' some of that picturesque sense of the past so frequently lacking in towns and villages which have kept more abreast of the times. The River Dewi Taff is said to abound in trout empty Water side apartment, but is much poached. The one place of worship, with its neglected graveyard, is of no architectural interest, is the Debt Councillor's building.
  11. But the MPC met yesterday, the minutes just get released at noon today. Do the Halifax think, what ever the figures say will sway the interest rate decision? Me thinks the figures will show a m.o.m. increase due to the low stat' sample. Interest rates will be put up 0.25% Sterling already has lifted a couple of cent. I would put any money on the above, as I never win a bet (mmmm, I wonder could I place a bet on that basis?)
  12. Will they be published tomorrow or are they going to just skip June in the hope that nobody notices?.
  13. general enquiries: 02920 303 020* press enquiries: 02920 196 459* careers with us: 02920 306 259* All their lines have the same message. You would think they could have put a different message on the Press line re-directing to Barclays (or do they not want the sh*t to follow them)
  14. They do this just to p*ss off the European Markets.
  15. Halifax June Figures As you can see the page is blank. They have lost them! The clerk that collates the Index had them on two floppy disks on the 08:45 Kings Cross train up to Edinburgh. When he arrived at HBOS HQ he didn't have the disks! They are making up the figures as I speak.
  16. Why is this not on the BBC News Page or even the BBC Business Page? Other media outlet seem more interested in our economy than the beeb UK Industrial Production (RTE)
  17. Bradford and Bingley 45.75 -4.25 8.50% Down another 8.5% this morning, maybe the investors have got wind of the Halifax house price survey.
  18. Calendar My God it even has the MPC meeting as tentative: We are doomed, doomed, all doomed you hear.
  19. While we, on here are waiting for the Halifax HPI with interest. There are others who's investment depends on it: HPI Linked Investments Banks including Abbey, Barclays, Bradford & Bingley, Newcastle Building Society, Skipton Building Society and Saga are among those that have sold these bonds, which link profits to the value of the Halifax House Price Index (HHPI). I must start my own bond; Investments start at just £1 It will be based on 6 numbers between 1 and 49. If they all come up I will double the investors money (that a 100% return) BBC1 publish the index twice weekly.
  20. The Argos strikers have been given tickets #969-#978 I'm afraid they expect the strike not to take place for at least a year, they are currently serving #231
  21. He doesn't look like someone you want to share a cell with. Or even buy his old home, probably has threatened to kill anyone who buys it!
  22. Do the Halifax not have a proper timetable for publishing these stats' ? Image if the MPC carried on they way they do. I'm sorry the MPC has decided not to meet this week, I'm sure they will be able to catch up with each other some time next week. Or does some temp have to collate the figures and it all depends if they are in the office, very unprofessional! -7.7% yoy
  23. 50p a share get your B&B shares here!, only 50p a share, come on ladies and gents 50p a a share. 50p, isn't that the price Tesco was charging for some basic food stuffs a week ago? Saying at 50p shoppers can't go wrong! Shopper yes, investors maybe a different story.
