Got mine today. Not well packaged; the "clink" of coins was clearly audible. Nice-looking, though, close to proof quality.

I know what you are getting at, DiggerUK, they're not priced at the price of the Silver content (like some of the Perth Mint stuff), but they'll never be worth less than £20 and if Silver does go through the roof, then we'll actually make money. In any case, I always have some cash in the house as emergency money, and I'd rather have these than three £20 notes. I'm quite happy with them, as numismatics or curiosities, just as I like the Perth Mint Lunar Series coins.

I've just checked on the Royal Mint website, and my order is still marked as being 'In Progress', so I imagine it'll be at least another few days before my coins arrive.

EDIT: I've also just noticed that the site says, 'Estimated Shipping from the 11th November,' which is kind of what I'd recalled, although I don't know whether this date is a general estimate or whether it's specific to me based upon when I made my order.

There is more chance of a return via Premium Bonds than these cleverly marketed duds.

They get to sell worthless silver at Gucci prices.......one born every minute.

..._

Eh? The silver is actually free. The coin costs £20 and has a legal tender value of £20. I will be spending mine in a shop (lol).

Anyone who wishes to part with theirs, I will buy them at face (£20). I want a few more as presents. The Royal Mint has replied to my email saying they have no plans to lift the purchase amount of three per household. (Although they might reconsider, of course, if they don't shift the numbers they want).

Having taking the trouble to swap £20 for up to three of these things, I'm not sure why you'd expect anyone to want to swap them back for £20 with you. Am I missing something?

Due to high demand we are currently experiencing delays, which means that we may not be able to despatch your order as quickly as we would normally expect.

Just order more to your work address, homes of friends & family etc...

Order some to my house if you want :)

Just got my 3 in the post this morning.

Great fun! They are very shiney and very sharp-edged (I think they would wear a hole in your pocket if you went down the shops with them).

Ugly elaborate packaging which I have taken off and chucked out...

Your choice ...but in the packaging I`m thinking they would fetch the premium if resold.

Let us know if you do the same .. B)

PS did you see that 50% are alleged to have been sold.? So 125,000 remain ..

Yes, just ordered. I wonder how many times I can repeat it before they run out. Frankly, I don't think they care too much as long as other people get a fair crack at the pile.

Do you think so? They're hardly rare. Do you think they will trade for more than £20 once they are all issued? How much of a premium is the packaging on other coins? All the other silver & gold ones I have seen have been naked bullion coins.

It seems to me that these coins being legal tender, are guaranteed to sell at a premium as investment coins, especially if in their original packaging.

As you say, the majority of bullion or even legal tender coins are loose. So if any coins are in original packs then they have not only the silver content value but also greater numismatic value and are of much greater interest by buyers in the future.

I agree. I also listened to one of the directors from the Royal Mint basically plugging the sale of these £20 coins on Radio two a couple of days ago talking to Chris Evans. I was curious as to why. Maybe no more reason than someone thought it would be of interest to listeners.
