Sinking Feeling
Great quote! “This is essentially Mr Paulson’s bill to help his friends and I can’t buy it,” said Paul Broun, a Republican of Georgia. “This is a huge cow patty with a piece of marshmallow stuck in the middle of it.” Best quote ever! Bear Monger
This is an amazing moment. He is rising to it. He gives a good speech but his actions betray him - why is he supporting the bailout package. This is his chance to differentiate himself and say he is against it but he wants it passed no matter what?

Realistbear
HUH? thought it was US money being swallowed and replaced. This is what Brown keeps telling us but I think its global as in all those who participated will feel the pain according to the size of their bubbles. Guess who had the largest debt bubble? Yup--it was Brown's miracle economy. The euro is doomed IMO. Imbalances and all that.
Guest vicmac64
This is bad news for the Euro and Pound. REcession/depression now guranteed. Depression was always guaranteed... Regardless of whether or not this bill passed.. At least the depression will not last as long as it would have if the bill passed. This was not about bailing out our economies - it was about bailing out thieving bankers.
Realistbear
Oh dear. I was thinking on the other....what sorts of companies would do well in a recession / depression? Its got buried now but Gloomberg reported in the midst of all this that Campbells soup was up 1.2%. Seriously.
