Converted Lurker
right back at ya baby Ok I've been told Bromborough is to be avoided I have actually viewed the one in Gayton and the garden is tiny Again Meols not exactly desirable for nearly half a million squid Upton, not great either And I've viewed the one in Acre Lane, opposite the railway station, next to a very busy A road and they paid £140k for it or something stupid like that which just upset me, it's quite a funny layout too But my point is you go to CW and make an offer 10% below asking price they look at you like you just grown another head. The first decision you guys have to make is whether you want to stay in the area. Secondly do you continue to rent for a while knowing that prices will fall. There is nothing to support prices up here Angela, the majority of well paid jobs are in the public sector. All the majority of folk have on the Wirral, in terms of wealth, is their house. So as prices fall, panic may set in. Nice house in Meols, btw 3 doors away from this one. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-865...pa_n=3&tr_t=buy The owners reckon they are BMV specialists:lol: can`t give it away for 220K, needs 50 spending on it mind and on a main road. Roman road Meols detached on for 350k I reckon they`d take nearer 300k. Similar in Dovepoint road nice sea views too..
iLegallyBlonde
Perhaps I've read it incorrectly but why are you even looking to buy a house in Stratford if you'd rather stay in the area you are renting in. Surely it would be better to be where you can spend time as a family, as you have said. , regardless of owning. Edit:note to self - learn to read, lol. True, hubs is just fed up of renting and feels we'd get a better deal in Stratford, even though he'd be doing more driving. I might just buy a caravan
Guest wrongmove
even though he'd be doing more driving. Hubby is already working over 17 hrs a day, 7 days a week !!!!! How is he going to find extra time to commute ??!!

Oh yes there was one you were going to tip me the wink on, i remember now is that on the market yet ? I'll have a drive down Roman Road, but that's coming up as Birkenhead on multimap now call me a snob but ... I think I can take one more move but then that's it, we've moved every 9 months for 27 months now and it is getting a bit much. We've been given 2 months notice today. I guess we've just got to find the deal that's ready to be done, but it is exhausting. What do you tink of Bromborough BTW ? Hubby is already working over 17 hrs a day, 7 days a week !!!!! How is he going to find extra time to commute ??!! Oh no he based at home, he'd just have to be out on the road more for meeting etc. A lot of his work he can do on the hands free to and from meetings. He's actually with his baby playing on the PS2 now so don't feel too sorry for him, he does relax sometimes.
hebejebe
Terrified - try 'Roman Road ch48' on multimap. It's in Meols, off Birkenhead road, not actually in Birkenhead. Converted Lurker - I'm interested in Hoylake, but as a FTB and wanting a 4 bed am a bit stuck so I'll just continue to wait. I've found your posts re L/pool and W Wirral very informative, please keep us updated with your views.
Goat
£350,000 equates to £1750 per month interest only. try this Rightmove 1 Or for a few £ more (on the same road) Rightmove 2 Now is not the time to buy.
LondonBuyer
I don't know if it would work for you, but given the VERY LARGE commuting commitment you seem to be contemplating anyway, you could aim to buy in the middle of the countryside. Downside: no shops etc. Irritating sheep. Drive to get anything. Upside: Easy enough to get far more land for your money, which permits extensions. Possible to get far more house for your money if you aim for the less desirable, less commutable areas.
matey
http://212.50.188.108/cgi-win/vebra.cgi?de...3/THELO/25592/3 We both love it, can afford it and we know they've just lost a sale WWYD ?????? We'd have to extend it or move in about 5 years time. Nice house, may have to put in an offer myself Only joking then again I'm up in North Oxfordshire on the Chiltern Line Which brings me to this point. When publishing a link to a property, be it on rightmove or EA's own website they will be able to see the stats showing an increase in the number of hits, probably more than if you did your own search. This will lead the EA to believe there is a lot of interest in the said property and then go on to inform the vendor there is a a huge interest in the property and to hang out for a full if not near asking price. So within this thread if every reader clicked on the property link over several days and you put in an offer they may hang out because the property is showing a wide interest. Is this fact or am I talking a load of b*ll*cks?
Tent
17 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Sounds like he's having an affair.
gasket37
What is life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. laurejon
The really sad thing is we have three kids under 5 and basically he loves his job which why he does it.The company he works for are American and they do expect a lot of him but by his industry standards he is very well paid. He spent last year looking for a new job and it just didn't happen for him so here we are. I hate this whole situation so much because we can afford the house we need for our family in Stratford because they seem to accept the crash is happening and the prices are back to normal 2000 levels, however where we are currently renting te prices are sticking, we can't afford anything nice and yet we actually need to be here if we ever want to spend any time as a family together. It really is a nightmare, but at least we have our health :-) He rarely gets to bed before 02:00am, he works 120 hrs a week, he loves his job?. Forget the house, you need to chill out and get a real life. Money and a Job should come way down on the list. You may well find both of you growing apart, and missing the best years of your childrens lives and your lives together. Get him to change his job into something more suitable for a family man, he currently has a single mans job yet has a wife and three young children. It is very easy to bury yourself into your work with the illusion you are creating a better life in the future. In reality the life you are living becomes the norm and the utopia of the future never materialises as those closest to you move away. In short, stuff the house, and the job, and have a life!!!!. Jack Chilli
In short, stuff the house, and the job, and have a life!!!!. That's the first sensible thing said in this thread so far, well done!
bears all
What you should do depends on where you are in life. If you can't see yourselves having to move within a decade, buy it. If you might need a bigger place in five years because of sprogs, don't. Looks lovely though. In my part of S Manchester that would be going for 500k minimum. libitina
Will you still be able to afford the payments if your husbands cuts back his hours to a more family friendly level?
Converted Lurker
My very last 2p worth, if Dearest Hubby has worked all these hours over the past few years and all you have managed to salvage was 40K from your last property sale, then something is either badly wrong with your timing, or your work life balance is all over the place. That nice Carol Caplin was on the radio this morning.. Edited January 11, 2006 by Converted Lurker
Crashbunny
Sounds like your husband is exhausted. The thing to do is to put people first and context second. He can't maintain US-levels of working hours long-term, so it's best you work on sorting that out first. What about you working to lighten the load? A radical move to make everyone happy is the best idea. If this house will incur great cost and lock your husband into working like a slave - it will not be a happy home, crash or no.
