  1. I needed a dvd cleaning disk for my car sat nav. Went into Comet on a Friday at 10:30am, I am the only customer: Me: "Do you have a dvd lens cleaner?" Salesman: "yes we do, over here I think they are £15" Wow, that's a bit steep I think to myself, maybe it's a very special one SM: "Here you go, has special microfibre brushes on it, lasts forever" Me: "Is it £15" SM: "Yes" Me: "Too much I'm afraid" I turn to leave SM: "But how are you going to clean your DVD!?" Me: "There's no rush I'll get one off the internet for £4" I actually went next door to PC World and paid £4.99 for one. They surely can't survive much longer.
  2. My guess: It's owned by an estate agent and his/her mate is selling a similar property nearby and so to set the bar high they've listed their house and the "Garage not included" will keep viewings to a minimum.
  3. Maybe the garage was there first and the house was built around it?!!
  4. Love this http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33539794.html So for half a million quid part of your detached house is owned by someone else! Unbelievable. I'm watching this one!
  5. A HPC favourite: I am really hoping we are at the Return to Normal phase.
  6. Ensuite kitchen! Great for midnight munchies. I couldn't possibly pay that much for it, if you really want it please put an insulting offer in.
  7. Fascinating thoughts. Both scenarios could conceivably occur, but if the distressed property is going for a song, whats to stop cash rich individuals piling in?
  8. Agree. Would be best if you took before and after photos to protect your belongings and go and stay with friends or family for a night. Or try contacting the insurer to check the facts.
  9. Well done you. Did you have many viewings and did the LL find a new tenant?
  10. In recorded history the elite, ergo the bankers, have always run the world. They are now more powerful than ever. I can't see this changing if a small country like Greece defaults.
  11. Thanks Guys, I never used to, but after reading HPC for a number of years I now have a deep distrust of estate agents!
  12. Probably been asked before, but is it normal to sign a Section 21 when renewing the contract. We signed up for another year in January and have been asked to sign the Section 21 which is dated January 2013. Should I sign?
  13. Not a false assumption as my wife gets her review in March, but I did assume that the majority would get a salary review in January. Interesting that less than 20% of pollsters had an above ('official') inflation pay rise with the majority receiving nothing. I realise it's not very scientific but for 2012 I can't see wage inflation outstripping RPI/CPI. I guess we won't be paying off our massive public debt very quickly then.
  14. And this from Barclays: BARCAP FINANCIAL SPONSORS GROUP EMEA WEEKLY NEWSLETTER | 31 January 2012 Macroeconomic Update  Global central banks keep surprising markets by unveiling looser-than-expected monetary policy. There are fundamental reasons that merit easier policy, but policies are also a reflection of an increased preference for growth over inflation-fighting  Several aspects of last week’s FOMC statement and press conference suggest QE3 has become more likely, despite recent improvement in the data flow. Furthermore, central banks in EM are signalling further rate cuts
  15. Interested to know, in the current climate, what you guys received as a salary change. Are times as tough as they seem?
  16. Is that a red pill or a blue pill?
  17. It's the freehold (ground rent) he's selling. Can't see it will make any difference.
  18. lifts usually close at 4, best to have a morning ski followed by a naked sauna.
