If you're a politician, you will keep the plates spinning like this as long as possible when you are in power and leave the mess for someone else to pick up. Living standard for the over 50s, with pensions, paid for houses etc are great. For the under 30 they are shit. The UKGOV has bailed out the (mainly) overextended over 40s with a lot of borrowing, which will all fall on the the working population.
