I'm not talking about career prospects (or whether or not one is up to their eyeballs in debt) - I'm talking about the material standard of living and it is markedly better across the board today than it was 30 years ago.

Yeah, so am I and no it isn't.

In fact: ?

The thing is, do the public at large perceive this as being 'madness'?

I can well remember the recession of the early 90s and vaguely recall how awful it was in the early 80s and today doesn't 'feel' anywhere near as bad as that.  Living standards are way higher and people don't seem to have the keen fear of losing their job or falling on harder times (which they should have, but they just don't).

If you're a politician, you will keep the plates spinning like this as long as possible when you are in power and leave the mess for someone else to pick up.

Living standard for the over 50s, with pensions, paid for houses etc are great.

For the under 30 they are shit.

The UKGOV has bailed out the (mainly) overextended over 40s with a lot of borrowing, which will all fall on the the working population.

It only does not feel bad as UKGOV are doing something that is incredibility stupid.
