Travisher
I've just seen this after a colleague sent me the URL. Who pays £349,500 for an ex council house semi? This makes Big Fat Gypsy Wedding look tasteful and understated... Click through the pictures but be warned you may need treatment afterwards. MattW
Bonkers!!! http://www.rightmove...y-36064579.html Ames That looks underwhelming for half a million pounds! For a start I would expect a detached house for that level of asking price.
Guest TheBlueCat
Ha, here it is. Back in May 2008. Actually sold for £55k, not £40k. So after costs, probable planning fees, lost interest on savings etc etc Looks like theyll make a loss, even if it gets close to asking price.. http://www.cheffins....pertyauctions-1 http://www.cheffins....ty-auction-34-0 Also looks like they've been living in it judging by the appearance. Add 4 years sh1tting in a field on top of the cash loss too. Lovely.

Chuffy Chuffnell
It's the sort of thing you should be paid to take on! Absolute liability. Even if you had lots of money and were going to live in it yourself after conversion you'd be wasting money in a way only Gordon Brown can trump. Really it's worth: Land £0 - the cost of clearance is roughly equal to its agricultural value. Building plots in this area are worth fck all. Bricks £500 - could be used as foundation rubble I guess Features £2000 - yeah a reclamation yard would buy some stuff off you at trade prices Now minus the auction fee, conveyancing fee and other admin stuff. £0. jfk
Ladies and Gentlemen, roll up, roll up because here today we have a bargain - a 6 bedroom building site house in Didsbury, Manchester for the princely sum of £565,000 .... MARVELLOUS!!! Fill yer boots! I go past this place every day on the bus, I've been watching it's steady transformation from ongoing building project to boarded up building project, then the windows were smashed, the front door bit hoofed in (presumably squatters), then a bit of fire damage to the right hand side of the building that's not photographed .... BARGAIN! It's right next to the local Aldi and bang next to the new metro-link trams being constructed. As long as I can remember (at least 5 years - confirmed with Mrs. jfk) this place has been a building site. nice view of the back ... isn't there something missing ... like steps. Price found: £565,000 Status found: Available Subtitle found: 6 bedroom detached house Title found: Wilmslow Road, Didsbury, Manchester Full description: The sale of this property offers a very rare opportunity for a discerning purchaser to acquire an unfinished project which when completed will provide a substantial detached family residence boasting 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 4 reception rooms in a most sought after location. The internal layout can currently be altered to a purchaser's own requirements and any buyer will be able to source their own kitchens, bathrooms and additional fixtures and fittings. An alternative option subject to planning consent would be to divide the property into a pair of semi-detached homes, although no consent currently exists. If a purchaser subsequently wishes to view the site then all viewings are strictly by appointment with Nick Brimelow.

Executive Sadman
Apparently it comes with a free land dispute. Im not sure whats with it. East Cambs DC has two planning apps to convert to a dwelling, neither refused, but both withdrawn before decision. In one theres something about a certificate of ownership. Couldnt be bothered to read it.

Yep, one in Queen Adelaide, now practically a part of ely i guess went for £58k. An acre that actually had a (dilapidated) house on it. I cant see something that isnt a house and has no land going for half that. Its a funny area. Ely itself isnt undesirable, but anywhere outside in 'the fens' isnt very in demand. Some people find the fens beautiful. I hate them personally, but meh.
Warwick-Watcher
I see dead people... Another candidate in the "photo of the rear" agents details :- http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-39602516.html Amazingly, despite there being 10 photos there isn't a single one of the front of the house - why ? FFS! Price aside, I can see those owning and living in these two homes being a hotbed for disquiet... The side of the 2 storey house actually borders the plot of the chalet bungalow, making future access to that wall for future repairs awkward if you don't get on with the neigbours. 'Not getting on with the neighbours' is a possibility with those two properties when childrens' footballs, tennis balls, etc go over the fence. Given the size of the plots this is a possibility. Or the balls get repeatedly slammed into the side of the 2 storey house.
Tenubracon
Have posted this one before as I was astonished at its price. Sold for £250k in June 2010, then £370k in Jan 2011 after a 'refurb'. Now it's apparently worth £410k!. It's in a very nice area, but its a small house, totally out of character with the other houses on the road, and sits at the bottom of a big block of flats: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-39948281.html Land reg: http://www.zoopla.co.uk/house-prices/eastbourne/milnthorpe-road/?q=Milnthorpe%20Road%2C%20Eastbourne%20BN20&search_source=house-prices

Oh, and its home to the notorious 'Edlington Devil Brothers'. 'With 12 exciting free gifts to make your house a home !.....' Forget the free gifts - they'll probably be nicked within the first week of moving in. Chuffy Chuffnell
Brilliant find. So never mind the hundreds you pay every month to A Banker in interest (aka "rent") you get a "free" gift (probably from "the back of a lorry" too)...
